See my thoughts on Black Widow Pencils - one of the many budget-friendly colored pencils out there that you can try in your adult coloring books.
As promised in the video, the skin tone sets come with a 4mm wax core, while the other three tins are 3.3mm wax cores.

They do come open stock! Look on Amazon in the pictures and it provides an email address where you an purchase and open stock you need!

Yes, unfortunately, it is not super reliable for open stock as with other brands. Which is why I left it out :(

I've had the cobra set for a while, but not used much, I also use Prismacolour which I love. Having said that I do like B W and after watching a few reviews have decided to purchase the other sets. Your tutorial is very helpful, thank you 💕

I'm glad it helped! Honestly, I don't regret purchasing the entire set at all, and they are releasing more at the end of July!

I started out with the skint one sets when I began my experience with Black Widow pencils. Then I purchased the Cobra and was so pleased that I purchased the remaining two sets during my next pay period. I love these pencils and have used them with Castle Art and Prisma Color Premier pencils. I found that they blended well with both brands and had no problem with wax bloom. Unfortunately, I don't have a finished picture to share as an example.

They do blend well! I haven't tried blending them with Castle Art, but I know they work well with Prisma.

They now have the Black Widow Monarch that just came out and it's a 48 count. I've got all the sets. I once got a set that had 2 Fang Green and they sent me a new one with no charge. So one of my sets is duplicate.

I also started with the skin tones . I use them for animal portraits. I love them. Being able to purchase sets at good price and slowly build my sets. I get a giggle at some of those pencil names.

Castle Arts are good pencils. I do like Black Widow over them, but that is just a personal preference and my style doesn't apply to everyone :)

@@ColorfullyOptimistic Castle Arts have a lot of green. I just got mine today. They came quick from Amazon. Ordered on Saturday and came today, one week early.

The cores on the skin tones is 4.0mm. The cores on the other is 3.8mm

I purchased a 36 set of Prismacolor Premiers on sale and mixed them in with my Black Widows. I use the PP mainly for backgrounds that use up a lot of pencil because I can buy PP pencils locally with a coupon for $1.50. PP and BW blend well together for me. I just find the PP too waxy. I’ve only been coloring since last April so this is my first set of pencils. I have all the pencils except the light skin. Not sure if I need them. I’ve almost used up several pencils in the dark skin set I love them so much.

Everyone has their own unique coloring style, which means they also require a pencil that works to that style. Prismacolor is definitely not for everyone, and Black Widows are awesome. The first time I used Prismacolors, I didn't like them, but once I got a feel for them they become one of my favorite.

I have only just found you and have been looking for reviews on Black Widow. I haven’t got the skin tones yet, only the Black Widow, Scorpion and Cobra. I have ordered Monarch and Dragon. In a later video do you do a review of the later sets? I think this review is friendly and positive and very helpful, thank you

@@ColorfullyOptimistic I certainly will, it is so good to hear something honest and clear. Up until now I have been disappointed with colouring pencils as the results, to me, look bland sometimes, but I am new at this so obviously inexperienced in the tricks and hacks that can reflect the colour’s true pigmentation. Thank you for giving me hope that my colourings may look a bit better than scribbling in a colouring book xx

This is so funny. I can't use my jarlink electric sharpener on mine. I have to use my Mitsubishi manual sharpener. Lol

They are made in New Zealand , the brainchild of a man working in mental health. He wanted people to step away from their screens. To colour does create relaxing vibe. No duplicates, and CAN BUY OPEN STOCK Core is centred and easy to sharpen. I think you got a bum set. They will replace your set !

It was my pencil sharpener. I have not had any further breakage using my new Dahl sharpener.

This is an old review (well, done before Monarch), but what is wrong? These are not technically open stock, which is why I do not mention it. Open stock is where you can purchase easily from a store/website in the quantities you need. In this case, you have to contact the seller on Facebook, request the order and pay through a PayPal invoice. Yes, you can buy individual pencils this way, but when I refer to open stock I am talking about how you can go to a retailer and pick up a pencil you need. I have spoken to the manufacturer about their open stock availability.
