Typical chevy sits between 3 and 4 degrees installed - oil wants to run to the rear anyway, so chamfering that return and removing any casting ridges gets the most attention. I do like the idea of removing slop with tubes in those oil holes as you did as long as lifter bores get grooved.

I hesitate to groove lifter bores--more oil on cam, but more to run off into windage, too. Real tradeoff, no?
