Man, I retired in 2021 and visited Guinea Bissau in 2023 (Balanta). I'm 58 now and really thought I was too old to move and reset. Man, you guys are an inspiration. Now, my retirement offers a comfortable life here, but, man... again, I'm inspired by you guys.

I first visited The Gambia in late July 2017 from Washington Dulles to NY to Dakar (the old airport to Banjul alone. I stayed with people I met in Sakuta and we went shopping at Serekunda market but we had to get back to Sanchaba because it was mandatory to be home to clean on Saturday.....dinner was hot pepper fish and after I ate I just spread out on the living room floor and slept like a baby.

About the onions try growing a variety that you can dry and sell as dried onions, you can keep them and sell only when market prices go up

How do I start....congratulations..you have overcome adversity, stone that has been put in your path to stumbled you, many uncommitted people/workers, no crop will grow on your land, the devils of the internet, etc.. @@michaelholmes562 Michael, I wish you all the best in your health journey and your business endeavors. The Gambia has substandard hospitals and clinics for any type of serious illness or injury. My concern is for your follow-up and maintenance medical care while you are there. While being a resident in The Gambia I fractured my leg. I had to migrate to three (3) different "hospitals" in order to get at least the minimum care I required. I felt the need to leave the country in order to have proper corrective surgery. Yes, The Gambia may appear to be a wide open blank canvas of opportunity, but there are many drawbacks and pitfalls within "the smiling coast". *By-The-Way... do not trust most of those smiling faces. Good Luck and Blessings

You are working just as hard or even more there in The Gambia. It might be more fulfilling since you are working for yourself. However, In The west you earned a salary that enabled you to save and move to The Gambia.
