I had a BCM12 sidecar with 1073s in it for a while in my old studio. I loved that each channel had it's own sound and I would use certain channels for different things. Are the 12 you modeled available as individuals so you could choose to use one for it's different characteristics?

I truly understood the magic of this plugin, when I inserted it on an already existing mix. It really did help to glue things together in an unexpected way. Words like: "Whoa...What the??"" came out of my mouth! Highly recommended!

It’s interesting that it seems to add a 2-3dB of treble just turning it on. I will say though, it’s probably the least harsh top end I’ve heard on one of these 1073 EQ plugins. PS it’s likely a 12k shelf, that’s what the 1073 is.

I absolutely love the BB N105. I know there is a lot of 73 emulation plug ins out there. But I do love what kit has done and utilize in all my projects. So I'm excited to see how this one lives up. Alright let's watch! Thank you

Hey Uncle D! I see you're the first to do an honest review of this new plugin by kit. I really appreciate your honesty and not selling out just for scribes to boost your channel. then you never have to do that anyway because you're such a great educator and have a big following. I must say you're one of the few channels I support and watch. I didn't realize until I scroll down and just see all the hype surrounding the music recording industry its a bunch of misinformation out there. A lot of us newbies are sprouting up at record paces trying to cram years of hard work into a couple of months or years without putting the work in and getting quick fixes. There are no instant overnight sensation engineers. I myself been doing this for only 11 years now and still struggle a little at times but has gotten a whole lot better but only through the hard way of grinding. I've released music on all the media platforms that I'm proud of but know it can be better. I'm thinking about one of your courses instead of looking at the next great plugin or gear I'm always buying which I can't afford but make it happen some way. I'm in the process of getting my first outboard gear. A pre and a compressor of some sort to track. I guess it couldn't hurt I want to see and hear what this so call analog vibe is all about to see if I'm really missing something in my mixes. again Dave thanks for all you do for the recording community.

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, plugins are just tools. which tool you use really does not matter all that much and new tools will never take the place of having good mixing foundational skills. Don't listen to anyone else who says different. It's not the tools its your skill set. Damn. It sounds really good. Has that classic neve sound that I remember. I love how you didn’t do much to show off the plugin and yet the audio speaks for itself. Night and day difference. Is there a noticeable change when you simply insert the plugin on every channel?

Hum and added noise has always been an interesting thing to me. Cause part of me is confused why I'd want it, but I know that a little noise can actually make some sources sound a bit thicker and more filled out. So I guess its nice to have then not!

hum and noise is how real analog hardware sounds, that is why they add it to the plugins.

Hey thanks for the great demo! I downloaded the 14 day trial of this plugin after watching your video. I thought the plugin looks cool (it does!), and you explained how it works really well. Last night I spent about 2 hours A/B testing it against the Waves Scheps 73 expecting some kind of magic from this new plugin...unfortunately, to my ears it doesn't do anything other than be yet ANOTHER 1073 emulation but without the function of MS like the Scheps 73! It probably sounds a tiny bit more polished than the Scheps 73, but not enough to warrant the (discounted?!) $75 price tag IMO. One other thing I noticed, was that if you switch between presets then, it resets the tool tips/fader/autogain functions to default which is almost as annoying as the UI not automatically resising to fit my second monitor size - like all my other plugins from various manufacturers do! I'd be really interested to see your take on this if you were to A/B test the KIT BBN73 against other 1073 plugins. Thanks again!

The kick drum use was very nice. Do you have the Acustica version of the 1073? Not sure what "color" to which they ascribe it. Yes, link the Master buss!! I've downloaded the demo. I have Core compressor..it is terrific on bass and bass drum.

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Understood. The only one I own and use other than free ones is El Rey. BTW, I really like the 73I just just instantiated it on some African drums, Fretless bass( ModoBass) and Slate SSD5.5 Blackbird kick drum. All good.

Tried this and the BB N105… but I always end up with either the UAD 1073 or the Lindell 80… their low end is soooo “3D”

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy At 4:25 you point out a 'Saturation Circuit' and then you state "Why in the world would you ever turn OFF the 'Saturation Circuit'?, as if having an overloaded preamp is the name of the game ! At 9:12 you add "grit and distortion", 4:01 and 13:50 "Master Bus SATURATION" ? In the 'old days (I've been doing this for 61 years and counting), overloading a circuit to the point of saturation, cutoff, etc. would get you a trip to the unemployment lime. We strove for the cleanest, quietest signal possible, and ANYTHING other than that was taboo. And 'hum and thermal noise" ? Time for that power supply overhaul, and here you add it in like that's some sort of accomplishment ! Your thoughts would be appreciate. Bill P.

Plugins remain plugins unfortunately, there are better and worse but hardware is king. Better to save some money and buy some good old analog gear.

So I spent the $75, only to find out I had to spend another $60 because it couldn't be activated without the iLok. NOW back and forth with KIT "support", as nothing they tell me to do actually makes the BB N73 show up in Studio One 6. What a JOKE. I have had zero problems with Plugin Alliance, Waves, Toontrack ... but this goes beyond annoying and unprofessional

I believe it says very clearly on the KIT website that you DO NOT need a $60 i-lock but a free i-lock manager app to activate the plugin.

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy yes, but KIT support wrote to me "Licenses may be activated to either an iLok 2 or 3 key, or iLok Cloud. Machine activation is not supported." Yet, there is no option for cloud activation when I'm signed into iLok License Manager. Thanks for replying to my email. I did get support from PreSonus initially, but it didn't help either. I will try again.
