I've yet to find a competent replacement to my old Samsung phone as a dashcam using AlfredCam. Full resolution camera with excellent autofocus, online video playback and always on functionality with my cars hotspot.

i just bought this and got it installed today, they enabled the microphone but i reviewed the footage i got from driving home and it did not play sound. i downloaded a clip to my phone and also didn't have sound, but like 15 minutes later i check it and magically there's sound.. is this a bug or what? i also had my ringer on the whole time so cant be that

Thanks for the detailed review. I’ve never had a dash cam before, but am interested into getting one. I have concerns about a dash cam deteriorating my car battery over time with repeated use of the parking mode feature. I understand that this model can use the car’s OBD-2 12-volt port to power parking mode. Does that mean the car battery won’t be used during parking mode? Or do I have that wrong?

Using the car’s OBD-2 12-volt port to power parking mode means that the dash cam will indeed draw power from your car battery when the vehicle is off. While any power draw from your car battery while it is turned off will lead to natural wear and tear, the camera will never kill your car battery or cause you to jump-start it, as the camera has voltage cut-off to stop drawing power well before that, which can be manually configured. Normally, the effects of running parking mode daily will be noticed 4-5 years down the line, leading to replacing the car battery a bit sooner. If you'd like to completely avoid wear-and-tear on your car battery, consider a dedicated dash cam battery pack, which completely avoids this, and offers much longer parking mode.

This dash cam if sourced from US, GPS functions works in India (for location/speed/date & time, etc.) during recording? ADAS require GPS or its camera/radar based?

Hey there! The Thinkware Q200’s GPS functions, such as tracking location, speed, date, and time, should work globally, including in India. The GPS module provides these details during recording. As for the ADAS features, they rely on both the camera and the GPS to provide alerts for lane departures, front vehicle departures, and potential forward collisions. The GPS helps enhance these features by adding location-based warnings for speed and red light cameras.

One main question that I have. Since I already have an F200 2ch Setup Hardwired into my Mazda 3. Since I already have a Rear Cam and Cable Ran to the Front Dash Cam, can I not just purchase the Q200 Front Dash Cam and SWAP It Out on the Windshield Mount? Plugging the Power Cable, GPS Antenna and Rear Camera right into it? You briefly mentioned that the Rear Camera had a different plug ((But It looks like that is ONLY Meaning if you get the Rear Camera that comes WITH the Q800 that IT's Plug would not work with your existing Cable, But the Plug End that Plugs into the Front Dash Cam looks the same > So Can I not just use the REAR Camera that Came with my F200 and the Cable that was installed for IT? And Plug it right into the New Q200 that I Swap Out)) ??? Please help as I would really like to Upgrade to the Q200 Front Dash Cam, retain my current Rear Dash Cam and be able to do all this Myself in 5min of Unplugging and Swapping out the Front Dash Cam and no need to call out My Professional Installer once again and deal with all that... Thank You... PS: I Edited this because Mine is the F200 NOT The F200pro as I prev mentioned. I think that makes a difference but either way.

Hi there, apologies if it was unclear. The good news is that the GPS, power cable, and mount are all compatible. The rear camera is unfortunately is different, as showcased by the different connector ends at 9:30 in our in-depth review. This does mean that the rear camera cable will need to replaced, as will the rear camera itself.

Are your car headlights on in the night time footage example? I’m getting A lot of glare and overexposure at night and can’t even read the license plates.

Yes, I can confirm that our headlights are on for all nighttime footage. Have you tried turning on the night vision 2.0 setting? That may help. Some other models that have HDR help more with high-contrast between headlight glare and other bright sources in low-light situations.

Thanks for the feedback! We used to sell this model, and FineVu models are normally rather good. Currently, we've replaced it with the FineVu GX1000 due to the improved image quality, but they are both reliable and offer quality features.

I need to know if this will work with my apple CarPlay? My current camera does not and often get hot and shuts off in Texas heat.

Sorry to hear your current camera is giving you those issues. I can assure you that Thinkware units perform very well in high-heat, and this camera even has a specific parking mode for high heat situations, still recording when others shut-down. As for CarPlay, you can't connect to both at once with any camera system, though you'll only need to connect to the camera when you want to review footage or change settings. Otherwise, the camera will do it's thing and not interfere with your CarPlay.

What can I power this camera with, when I want to use it while riding my e-bike? is there a small power pack that would work?

I'm not aware of anyone who's run a setup like that. Your best bet is using the cigarette lighter adapter of the camera, and use a cigarette socket adapter to convert whatever power source you're using.

Also wondering how long the parking mode lasts? Trying to decide if I should leave it in continuous or put energy saving

Hey, you can't use the CPL filter on the rear camera, unfortunately. The parking mode will last for an average of 6-8 hours, depending on your car battery. Energy-saving mode can give you a few extra hours, and it would be a great place to start.
