I’m not triggered but I do think about the fact that it was a different time, before DUIs where the taboo offense of today. Even if they were, he was just a kid, he was famous and used to success and was clearly struggling to deal with failure. No it doesn’t make it okay but there’s no need to shit on him for what he threw away. He didn’t intend on wrecking and if he hadn’t killed that poor woman ppl would be remembering him as a what could’ve been and not what pos moron. Like us regular ppl always made responsible decisions at 21 without the pressure of fame. We just got lucky and didn’t die

It’s always easy to judge someone in hindsight and if the op of this video didn’t take such a hardline stance on this kids stupidity then I guarantee you that this comment section wouldn’t be full of ppl saying how stupid the kid was. It’s easy to say harsh things when everyone else is, the tone was set and ppl went with along. If this video shown him in a tragic light then that’s how most ppl would have reacted and commented because like it or not most ppl are sheep. They get in where it’s easy to fit in. If everyone says one thing then they say it too cuz they wanna be accepted. Everyone should just take 10 seconds and remember some of the stupid shit they did at 21 and got away with, now think about if u hadn’t been so lucky, would that make u a piece of shit?

I have little empathy for someone that drives drunk. A drunk driver nearly had me my dad and sister die cause of road rage, so I have no tolerance for it whatsoever. Shame Rob made a poor decision and everyone says poor Rob, but nobody says poor Nancy a mother, daughter, and wife that had no reason to be killed other than a poor decision. It's not like they had a budget to compete. You sent be called a bust of most of your career wasn't in top equipment. People that are drunk dont make good decisions so its idiotic to get upset at them for those decisions. No doubt you brainless retards would be even more upset with him if the woman he killed was pregnant. In Australia it is illegal for an establishment to serve someone alcohol if they are drunk. Its the responsibility of the establishment because a drunk person doesnt know when to stop. Because they are $&$&ing drunk. If you want to blame someone then blame the establishment that continued to serve him alcohol until he was twice the legal limit, then blame the guy he called for help - then blame his girlfriend that apparently let him drive after they left establishment. What dumb stuff have you done while drunk? The fact that you havent killed a pregnant lady while drunk is just blind luck. You dont know what you are doing while you are drunk.

I was at the September 1990 Dover race which was Moroso's third to last start before his fatal car accident. Moroso definitely had a lot of hype coming into the series following his 1989 Busch Title. Given NASCAR's rising popularity at the time the media began searching for "the next big thing" every year. Gordon would basically come along at the same time and proved to be the star that Moroso never lived to be.

To call rob moroso’s rookie year and his career a bust is a shame! Every rookie has their ups and downs and I believe if he didn’t pass away he would have been a very good driver in later years. The other day I watched the 1990 Mello Yello 500, the first race after Moroso’s death, and I saw that Barry Dodson was a crew chief analyst during the race. It makes me think why didn’t he do more to prevent Moroso from driving under the influence? I’m sure Dodson thought about him during the race, but if he really feels emotional about Moroso’s death, he would express his regret not doing something right then and there. I get the feeling that Rob was one of the earliest drivers to enter the cup in his early 20's with expectations following right behind. this kind of trend of hyping unproven drivers seems to be happening to this day: Chase Elliot, Bubba Wallace, Joey Logano, Trevor Banye, Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Daniel Suarez, Kyle Larson and Erik Jones to new a few.

I get it, Rob Moroso made a stupid decision, but at the time he was depressed and that one dude that tried to talk to him should have done more to lift him up. This is the ugly face of depression. And also I wouldn't consider him a bust because his life was cut short, otherwise I would say that Tim Richmond was also a bust because he didn't win a championship. I know you will disagree, but I don't consider those who were plagued by injuries or their lives were cut short to be busts because they never really had that chance to show what they could do.

Ik yall will yell at me for this but I wouldn't call him a bust because 1. It's his first year in cup. 2. It's a new team coming from the Busch Series. 3. He could've been better in his second year cuz some rookies struggle in their first year in cup like Chase Elliott and Kurt Busch. And 4. He was competing against some old and talented guys in their 30's 40's and 50's in the Cup Series like Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, and Davey Allison and Moroso was gonna struggle.

Help Me alcohol did not cause that. It was road rage. I’ve driven drunk plenty of times and if you do the speed limit or speed but use common driving sense (obey traffic control devices, look and make sure it is 100% safe to change lanes) you should be fine. Driving is deadly without drinking too so let’s just not care about people that drive drunk. See how messed up that sounds?

While I'll agree that he was dumb with his decision that caused his death but I'm gonna ask the question if he didn't do this on purpose. Mainly listening to the guy who had described what Moroso was going through off the track. While yes he had the world at his fingertips but as someone who dominates in Busch competition to constantly wrecking and finishing mid pack the whole season in cup, that had to be demoralizing. It's a shitty situation and he did it to himself but he took someone out with him which is what this all ends up with. A bad decision by someone who probably wasn't thinking straight to begin with.

The data doesn't back up your claim. In his rookie Cup season Rob had average finishes of 25th. That compares favorably with racers like Dale Earnhardt Jr (20.8) and Kyle Busch (21). The 1989 championship Busch campaign saw him winning 4 times, with 12 Top 5s and 16 Top 10s. That he killed someone else in the accident is so sad. Perhaps what Rob needed most was someone to hold him accountable for his poor decisions.

Series Idea : Bust in Disguise? The drivers that never won a championship but are obvious fan favorites. Yep, I'm actually questioning the skills of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, etc. ... After coming in with such promise from the then-Busch series, it seemed like Moroso should have set the world on fire but did not.
