I bought a Blackhawk Serpa Concealment locking holster for my S&W M&P Shield .40 today and I talk a little about it, show you how it works, and give my first impressions.

Your video not only helped me assemble this holster - it also reassured me that the difficulties I encountered in understanding the poorly-written instructions were not my fault. I bet that - truth be told -many purchasers of this plastic holster also struggled to understand the poorly-written assembly instructions that came with it. I’ve concluded that many reviewers of this plastic holster are reluctant to admit the struggles they encountered during assemble - out of fear they would be judged as inept by their peers. It is my view that, without the proper instructions for assembly, this holster is really just a hunk of mass-produced plastic with miscellaneous parts strewn about inside the packaging. Thank you for taking the time to create this instructional video.

Thanks for your detailed instructions; as others have noted, the instructions in the packaging lacks a lot of information. Great to see how the paddle attachment goes into the pants.

I have had my Blackhawk holster for years, and I love it! I got it from Wal-Mart for under 30 dollars and it works as good as the day I bought it, holds the pistol securely but allows quick draw on demand "👍

Very helpful video that clearly explains the assembly and positioning of the Serpa CQC holster. Apparently Blackhawk does not place a high priority on detailed instructions for the first time Blackhawk system purchaser. I was in the dark about the proper positioning of the belt pins and of the concealment aspect. Thanks for clarifying.

Good video, but Blackhawk shouldn't call it a concealment holster like you said, it left a clear print of the weapon. I see it more for a range purpose

I to got a Blackhawk Serpa Concealment locking holster for my S&W M&P Shield .40 but i am not worried about concealment. i live in Kansas. open carry state. only two counties do you have to worry about the CC. any other county you can open carry. my problem now it being able to pull it up high enough because of my shoulder being junk, i just hope i can adjust it forward in an correct angle that i can pull it out without any problems. i like the idea of the hip holster and not have to worry about the pull, seems like an easy out. thanks for the help!

You're missing the point of the paddle. You don't have to thread your belt through it, just slip the paddle in your pants.

Hi Marcus 👋 I bought my husband this exact clip for exact gun..we are trying to put it together and it will not go in the clip can you maybe help walk us through it please? The plastic piece inside that the retention screw adjusts will not slide down enough to get it in.

I wouldn't think so. If I recall correctly those are the Sigma pistols and they're shaped slightly differently than the M&Ps. Then again, I could be wrong, so go find a gun store that has one of these holsters and try before you buy, :-)

*A WARNING TO ALL* Though this holster does offer good retention at a very good price point (we’ll get to that below) there are several issues I think many people may not immediately think of when purchasing this holster. I’ll start with the smallest of concerns. 1. The belt mount if you look is really just two (roughly 1/4”) plastic strips on either side of the holster. These can fail due to their lack of strength leading to the entire holster breaking off your body! God forbid, If you ever find yourself in any engagement in which you are fighting for control of your firearm. That’s a problem! As retention of any firearm is totally negated if you don’t even have control of that firearm...a moot point, once that firearm has been been ripped off your side it is no longer “your firearm” is it!? 2. The retention locking system offers one major flaw that could ensure you never even draw your firearm when you most need to. If any debris’s get into this push retention system it can actually jam it up making release impossible, and I mean impossible. Addendum to this. If any contact is made with the holster retention/release mechanism on any rough surface, eg concrete sidewalk, side of a building etc while say...fighting for control of a person as may be the case with law enforcement or in training drills on the ground, those little pieces of plastic shavings can obstruct this system again rendering your firearm unusable, as any firearm stuck in a holster is just that...a firearm stuck in a holster. 3. MOST IMPORTANTLY & lastly, take a good look at the release of any firearm using this holster. Where does your index finger need to be applying pressure to engage the safety unlock on this holster? Yup, you guessed it...Right where it will need to be when shooting! As you draw your firearm from this rig you will notice that due to the placement of the push system and the force needed to engage this system in order to release your firearm your index finger WILL naturally enter the trigger well of your firearm, leading to what has happened already to many times...accidental discharge! I will end on this note. If one of the largest Law Enforcement agency’s (L.A.P.D) in the nation has banned officers from carrying these that’s a pretty big hint! The fact is, the 100 % markup by most sellers of this system is what has kept this rig system selling (Yes, modularity I know). It all comes down to profit for the sporting goods stores selling these. I do not represent any maker or supplier of any firearms parts or systems, etc nor am I telling anyone to not buy this holster. I am just sharing my observations about this holster as a “buyer beware” because when there is a real possibility of anyone getting injured using this holster it’s important to share these things. There are other companies that make safer, more reliable holsters at nearly the same price point. The ONLY real positive I can give this rig is that it does retain a high level of modularity for use with LBV/MOLLE systems, thigh, shoulder and side carry options. But there are some major safety issues I see with this system. Be safe & have fun...but be safe first!

Watch 'active self protection extra' video on why the serpa holster is hot garbage. I bought one with my gun and now i regret it. Pull the gun and push the button and your finger goes straight to the trigger. These holsters are BANNED by multiple police agencies because it is unsafe to use under a stressful situation. Im on my way to get my money back for mine

Lmao You need to learn how to draw your gun properly. The only way that finger goes into the trigger guard is if you put your finger in it.
