These have allowed me to affordably use HDMI-out cameras with my SDI-centric Shogun 7 (set to Level A) for live streaming/switching. Awesome product line!

The "illegal values" setting is to switch between full range video data signals, and "broadcast-safe" levels, which squeeze all bits into 16-235 (for an 8-bit signal), instead of using the full 255 bits. I believe it's a carryover from the analog TV days where you needed to keep the signal within certain voltage levels to avoid blowing any circuitry :)

@@AJaytheCEO And thanks for the tip of upgrading to the latest version of the utility! I just picked up a micro converter and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't detect it (accidentally downloaded a previous version...)

Hello Ajay! We are trying to update our desktop. What do you recommend us buying? Desktop or laptop? We would like to go live in the future, and I want to make sure it’s good enough for that.

I am using open lp. I currently have a hdmi to sdi bm converter to sdi cable to sdi to hdmi to projector. I tried to connect laptop hdmi to a splitter to projector and another feed to confidence monitor tv. It will only show tv and projector goes blue. I want to instead run a loop from the first bm converter to the tv. Can I use this to convert back to hdmi? Like you said I can’t find any of the original micro converters. I just need an sdi to hdmi

I got one too but it wont work to load luts on it, the app says my lut files are corrupt even though it´s blackmagic designs own luts from resolve I try to use. I tried other luts too but nothing works.

AJay, I asked this on another video that you responded to but I have an update with a followup question. At my church we have three PTZ cameras, two of them are running SDI and one is running HDMI. We had them connected to our Lumantek Video Switcher but I wanted to switch to the Atem Mini Pro. Since the Atem Mini Pro only has HDMI connections, I bought two Black Magic SDI to HDMI 3G converters. The 2 converted SDI connections are not showing any output on the ATEM Mini Pro but the HDMI connection shows fine. The SDI to HDMI 3G converters are showing the steady white light. I tried different HDMI cables and tried plugging them into a separate monitor and it still gives no output. I tried going to the Atem Mini Settings and changing the video resolution to 1080p30, 1080p60, etc... and still no output. I connected the converters via USB to the computer and downloaded the latest Micro Converter software. I'm kinda stuck there.

Hello, I'm trying to use this same converter as a middle man between my BMD studio switcher which has an SDI program out and using the converter to connect to my capture card which is HDMI. I'm not getting a feed from it & i have the converters setup software downloaded to my computer. Could you by chance have an answer to this dilemma?

Good evening Ajay. In obs and the atem mini pro. HDMI 1 will at times just pop in a green 1 inch strip down the left side on the program out screen. When switching to HDMI 2 on the Atem, it's fine. How can this situation be fixed?

When you see green it is normally a framerate issue. What are you connecting to HDMI 1 and 2?

@@Editor1206 anything you decide it to be, 24, 25, 29.97, 50, 59.94, 60. Pick one that you like the look of and that your computer can handle

Just saw your video. Will this work with a cable TV feed? I have a coaxil cable from my cable company going to my TV. I'm trying to change it to HDMI. Will the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 3G work?

No this is sending a different signal so a standard line from cable company will not work

@@christopherbloomer6146 This device will work for SDI signals but I am not aware of a device that does this for regular coax to HDMI except for a typical cable box

Hi Ajay, good evening Sir! Thank you for making this video. I have an issue and I would very much appreciate your help to solve it. I purchased a BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G Micro Converter like yours. I have a Canon DS12671(Rebel EOS XT) connected to HDMI IN port -> going out to SDI OUT to a DeckLink Duo2 card connected to a PCIe slot. Unfortunately, I turned on the camera and no picture/video. Any idea what could be the problem please?

Are you getting any hdmi out when you connect it to a tv? Do you see lights on both sides of the converter to verify a signal is actually coming into the converter and output is going out?

AJay, I am using a IMac mini and just updated last week OBS to the 26.1 version and now for some reason It wont come up on monitor at church. OBS comes up but doesn’t recognize anything. Any ideas?

@@AJaytheCEO The audio and the video coming from the camera on my monitor. OBS comes up but that’s it. Just blank. Nothing changed but updating OBS.

@@markdoyon8752 Are you using a capture device with this or just connecting to your iMac? These are not capture devices so the computer won't see it.

@@AJaytheCEO Using Black Magic Ultra Studio. Gonna try Resi Solutions. It’s new and I’ll tie it into Pro 7 on the iMac mini. I’m done with OBS and not going to switch to Windows PC but thanks for your help and questions man.
