Being a kpop trainee is brutal. As you heard they practiced 14 hours a day and only got a day off every fortnight. Then they had monthly evaluations where all the big bosses would come and watch. They had to perform a solo song a group song and a dance choreo. Then you get graded. You get brutally honest opinions. They probably tell you you suck at this or that. Remember they’re all teenagers. It’s got to be soul crushing. Like Jennie said there’s so many trainees and they get cut constantly. Most trainees don’t debut. So imagine spending years and years training only to get cut. It’s devastating. There are girls that train for a decade and still can’t debut. Just because you can dance or sing doesn’t mean you can make it to debut. The company has to feel you are special, you fit into the group in a certain way. That X factor so to speak. Lisa mentions that at one stage she felt that she was never going to debut after training so long and wanted to quit. So for the four of them they’re losing friends left and right. Originally YG wanted a big 9 girl group but ended up cutting that and making it just the 4 of them. It’s obvious that just the 4 of them was something special.

It still amaze me that even when Lisa was struggle with the language when she was in her traine day, she still managed to get straight A in all subject in every evaluation day, as stated by Jennie that Lisa is the only one who always got A in every subject.
