A quick fly around the former Blackpool China Clay pit, showing how high the water level is in the flooded pit.
In recent months with all the rain we have had, it seems to have taken it's toll on the water level in the pit, although I'm led to believe that the water is monitored and drained off, the water level is the highest I've ever seen.
The pit closed in November 2007 after being in operation for around 107 years, and led to around 500 employees being made redundant, but I've been told that there is still over 30 years of good quality China Clay still to be had in there.
