Aaron Petersen shows the blacksmithing techniques involved to make a Rams Head Fire Tool.
Forged from a single metal bar, this project demonstrates many key blacksmithing skills.

Hi, its me in the video. I don't use flux - it makes a mess in the fire. As long as the metal is cleaned its fine. The flick is to remove dirt. Thanks for all the views and positive comments.

Nice to see Aaron and his shop on youtube. I did a two day blacksmith coirse with Aaron and learned a lot. I would recommend his course to anyone interested in basksmithing. Looking forward to seeing more of you on here Aaron,.

I am currently trying to become a Blacksmith, I'm looking into joining the California Blacksmith Association. For as long as I can remember blacksmithing has been one of those things i've really, really wanted to do. The flying sparks, the sound of the hammer hitting the metal, everything about blacksmithing is just amazing to me. It is one of my biggest goals to become a blacksmith.

I agree very much with you sir, CNC machining and modern detailed tolerances are implemented to achieve repetition... yet here this guy with his eyes and one measuring length tool does the same... apparently hundreds of times brilliant, good job keep it up...

Beautiful. Something i have admired and watched my dad do from a kid. Now his is older and i wish i would have learned to do. But there is always time. Cool video.

i used to work @ b.rourke&co for 16 years...and knkow this technique well...we also did the same aswell as a bulldog head,great vid keep posting :-)

thank you - they say it takes approx 10,000 hours before a craft becomes second nature so its important to just keep going

It does actually look like he used flux though. You see how he whipped the iron down. You do that to get the excess flux off the piece.
