Күн бұрын

Hello Frac Crew!
,
Man, the rain has not been on my side with this entire Blackstone process so far. Right when I started doing my seasoning it started to rain. I did the best I could do, but decided to wait a few days for better weather.
So the most important step is how you do the first season. It is critical that you do this correct because your Blackstone can and will start to rust.
What I like to do is turn all burners to high for about 10 minutes. You will start to see some discoloration. My oil of choice is Grape Seed. It has a really high smoke point. I also have used Flax Seed oil and it works just as well.
After applying the oil let it burn in for about 10 minutes or until it stops smoking. Repeat these steps 3-4 times. Be sure to cook something super fatty such as bacon for the first time. Your griddle will thank you. Good Luck and get your griddle on.
Please let me know if you need any help!

I've made about every samich idea I could think of. Although, a smash burger or some cheese streaks never get old, my next cook will be testing out a spatchcock chicken on the blackstone. I bought the grill grate for my weber go anywhere grill some time ago and pretty sure I could put that on top the griddle, throw the chicken on that and get some good food out of it. Good idea for a new video for you as well. You got the BBQ background that could take it to the next level.

I fry lots of bacon in cast iron, knowing that pork does leech out the seasoning a bit; hence the white spots. I just clean and season as he said. Just remember about pork, especially chops.

Unfortunately this great video is wrong. Seasoning iron isnt cooking, its chemistry. And using bacon as a first cook is a rookie mainstream myth. Seasoning is polymerization and sugar breaks the polymer process. Bacon has natural sugars. When those sugars burn they create a wildly uneven seasoned griddle. The "normal discoloration" after cleaning off the bacon grease isnt normal, its just wrong and burnt sugar throughtout your polymerization. Yeah, add hot oil ontop and itll "go away" but just know its still there. Forever. While your iron may hold the Seasoning and pass an egg test, you could have done 10x better. Before you comment im wrong, pick up your phone and call blackstone. They will explicitly tell you to NOT use bacon.
