I started formulating my brand identity back in August when I watched your review of Dude Candle. I've got my name, logo, ethos, product types, collections, vessels, wax all locked in but I'll admit I have been procrastinating the scent stage. I'm a perfectionist and the sheer choice of scents is daunting because I want them all to make the best scent combo possible (i know that's not realistic). Hopefully this video will give me the push I need to get a product and improve it over time instead of starting with a perfect product

For me, IGI 6006 is objectively the best wax. I love it so much, amazing cold and hot throw, and that smooth creamy finish on the top. It works amazing with Makesy Ultimate Wood Wicks. And I bought my first 10 lbs of 6006 to try out after watching your video about it. Thanks Wade!

Lol! I was trying to follow these steps. This is a great video. I sold a few candles before I was able to implement all the steps. I wasn't intending to sell them. I recommend that when you are getting your business up and rolling be prepared for people to say "Oh wow I need some candles." So don't tell anyone what you are doing until you are fully ready to sell. Luckily for me I had been testing candles so was able to crank out some decent candles and get them sold.

Great information. I'm revamping my business. I went stagnant last year due to a lot of family stuff going on and could not focus on my candle making as I had before. I need a fresh start. I have learned to work and enjoy Soy 10, PB600 and get my premier weeks from you 😊 and Joywax and I’m considering to make a blend with a bit of bees wax because I can’t still get my double wick jars to burn less hot I have tried almost everything and all the wicks I can think of 😅… I should try wooden wicks but I’m just so tired haha

Wade love your videos. Just think that no one talks about how to get he right resale certificate NAISC code for candle makers. I can’t find anyone explaining what code should we use. I’m halfway on my application because I don’t now what code to add.

Hi Wade, I'm terribly sorry for going off topic here but its the weirdest thing ever! I'm from a place where pre-blended waxes aren't a thing so I've been trying to make my own blends. Recently I tried emulating the Problend 600 (52% soy and 48% paraffin) and the surface is creamy and no sink holes whatsoever. Awesome. BUT the cold throw is virtually non-existent. I can literally smell the wax more than the fragrance oil haha! I've tried between 7-10% FO, different scents and vendors, adding the FO around 180-185F (always see little whispers of smoke come out of the wax when I add the FO). Am I burning off the FO? All the websites and blogs mention that 185F is the ideal temp to add FO for this blend. Anyway I'm kinda bamboozled😅 I expected the CT and HT to be amazing but this is upside down. PS: Love your videos♥️ You've encouraged me to try my hand at candle making as a side hustle.

I have a question though: so I've been running ideas through my head about a theme, but I'm worried about getting letters in the mail for trademark/likeness rights. Are there key words/phrases to stay away from so that I avoid any cease and desist letters? Names are probably not trademarked unless they are a brand, like Mark Jacobs or Vince Camuto. You could always research if something is copyrighted or trademarked before naming something that. Naming something "Hogwarts" is probably off limits. Anything related to Taylor Swift has been trademarked, and she actually sued a small business before for making t-shirts with a phrase from her song on them... so I'd stay away from stuff about her 😅

Do you print your own labels? If yes what type of printer do you use. This is my biggest obstacle

Hi, I have tried making candles with soy wax and essential oils but the hot throw is not as strong as fragrance oils. So can you guide me if this is true with EO, is it less fragrant but its very soothing? or Is it something I need to work on for better scent throw. I have tried changing wax and wick as well but nothings working out at this point. Please please do reply. Thank you Sir.

Hi Wade, I love your channel and have learned a lot from them. I'm starting my candle making journey because of the community of people like you who give me confidence in this venture. I had a question, while I was looking for label elements and ideas on candle labels. I found myself going to Adobe stock and realized your personal label for BTB was available. Did you mean to do that? I mean share your label design? I always liked your label but don't want to copy it. Just wanted to see your thought on someone copying your label? Thank You

Do you recommend that you get a LLC and Liability Insurance or do you think it's safe enough to get Liability insurance only in the beginning and then once the business is profitable to then get a LLC?

LLC can be anytime. That's more of business structure than anything else. Just check with small business attorney and a cpa to discuss best times to do what. But yah insurance is beat asap

Loved the intro!!! I guess I'm more of a visual learner because your timeline put everything in perspective for me. I've been kind of stuck in the R&D (research & development) stage for too long. The good news is though, that with the aid of your visual, I'm feeling good about all of the other aspects of getting my business off the ground that I have completed. I'm nearly at the "open for business" stage (yay!!!). I've struggled with perfecting the wicks for quite a while - started out with ECO and CD wicks with 464 wax. I've had too many headaches trying to use those. Once I finish using this wax, my plan is to switch to a soy/paraffin blend mainly to improve the hot throw. Good news is I'm testing now with Premier wicks I bought from you. I will let you know the ones that work best. As usual, hats off to you, thank you for all you do to help us develop and grow our businesses. You are the one true source I totally trust. I've said it before, you are the "Candle King." Thank you so much!!!

I've had an Organic and Vegan Artisan Soap business for years. I also make Sugar Scrub, Body Lotion, Lip Balm, Wax Melts. I recently added candles to my products. I'm not sure how to market them. They are an unknown to my loyal customers. I have gone through Paraffin/Soy and I didn't like the burn or smoke. I have gone 100 per cent Soy from Candle Science. Is it a good idea to give candles away to loyal customers to they can grow to love them? I have sold some and customers liked them. I have sold three wick candles that seem to be the most popular. I am using cd and eco wicks from Candle Science and all of my fragrances are from Candle Science including my Soy. Not sure how to get started
