635RG SE-MML July 25 2023 1525-1625z. The best landings were on ESML´s asphalt Rwy 12/30. On ESMH I used both 24 and 32. Crosswind around 10 kt from both left and right during this training. I later flew two more on 24 and 32 going to idle a bit later before touchdown but I didn´t have camera battery. With approx 570 kg weight and not very steep glide slope I almost needed slightly powered on touchdowns, or so it felt. Takeoffs with 70-80% power as usual.

I can see the glare of dash on canopy due to sunlight and it might be interfering with visibility. if possible use some cloth to cover the dash just like in car. It would prevent the glare and keep the dash cool from sunlight in summers 😊

nice,, is there a reason you only use 70% on takeoff ? the standard is over 100 %

Hi, the reason is the flight instructor who "checked me in" so to speak suggested using only 70-80% since there´s already so much power from the 915 iS at that effect. If I recall correct I even used it on a 450 m runway with a 75 kg pax, and on one occasion only 50-55% by mistake on a 800 m runway. Got airborne after approx 550-600 m :-). The first flights of the instruction was on 100% however, but I didn´t know you can go beyond that? Another reason is the price per flight hour, it´s based on tacho and it´s setup so 1 hour airborne corresponds to something like 60-65% effect. No one seems to know for sure, I´ll have to ask the owner, but if you fly on 90-100% the cost goes up with 40-50 %.

@@flythething193 when it says 100% its over that to approx 105 %,, thats why there is a time limit on using it ,, ie mostly around 5 mins ,,use max power on takeoff till at least 1000 ft agl ,, if something happens and you crash you re going to be liable alot easier if they find from the engines logs you re only using 50% etc power and not 100 % as the POH likely states ,, stop worrying about the money and worry about your life and others

@@MAGApepe I´m not worrying about money at takeoff, it was just the suggestion from the flight instructor, and 70-80% is apparently plenty already with 141 hp available at max. I will mix it up, since I like to try different settings, but you have a point of course. Using less time to 1000 ft gives you more options if the engine fails. When I fly the WT9 I usually start reducing power from wide open to like 75% at 700 ft. No, theres no such recommendation in the POH on using 100% power at takeoff. Never seen it for any of these smaller Rotax-equipped planes actually.

@@flythething193Consult the POH under Normal Procedures, page 12 of the manual: "Throttle Full" at takeoff. All performance charts assume full throttle setting. Anything else and you become a test pilot.

@@flythething193 Take offs are always with maximum power until a safe altitude is reached or time limit (5 min above 5500 rpm). Also for Rotax engines, They can handle it.
