Hey dude, I'm new to fury prot and I was wondering about my weapon combination. I have frostbite and doom's edge. Do you recommend those or should just get daggers like yourself here. Also crusader vs 15 agility, what are your thoughts on that?

To make the raid frames into two rows, make sure the width and height are set at the minimum values. The addons you're asked about are KuiNameplates, Shadowed Unit Frames, and Elkano's BuffBars.

On ebonroc - we have two tanks rotating between debuffs and a third tank designated for WB. Two tanks are enough for the debuff to fall off and it makes it much easier so we don't mess up taunt rotations. Worst case the OT gets a debuff for a few seconds in-between taunt and WB but that's well worth it. Also, for our DPS's convenience the two main tanks stand on each other and both eat shadowflame - we take more damage but there's basically no movement (rotation) of the boss except for WB and it hasn't caused us any problems healing-wise. But hey your firemaw positioning is AMAZING! Definitely going to try this next reset

That's a solid strategy too! I've seen successful kills using both strats, I'm just more familiar/comfortable with the triple tank rotation (while ignoring wing buffet), so that's what I covered in the video. Thanks for watching :)

Love the vid! Huge tip on vael that works for me and my guild. Throw sunder in rotation and lose revenge. BT>HS>Sunder. It gets me about 15-20k Jump in threat above all dps :)

Thanks! I agree Sunder is a good ability to use, BUT from everything I have seen Revenge is the highest threat ability a warrior can use. Is there evidence to the contrary? Let me know!

@@TheDubpace Let me try to get some logs that i researched. To be honest i never had a problem with maintaining threat throughout vael if DPS would wait 2.5-3 seconds before engaging so i can jump around 7k threat before they started. Also, fight club (idk if you follow it) has a tool that you can input ur logs in and it tells you your TPS on the boss. I did that compared to all the tanks on my server (Benediction) and they all always had higher TPS than me so i started diving into each of the other tanks logs and the only thing they were doing different was not using revenge and replacing it with sunder. I def would love to hear your input. Im huge about learning. Learned alot from your vid alone :)

From what I understand is that revenge is the best rage pr threat ability, aka it does a ton threat for the cost, but when rage ain't a issue sunder is stronger per global

TheDubpace Revenge is good threat per rage...but you have unlimited rage and you’d prob get more threat fishing for WFs with sunder.

Yes! I'm pretty sure the proper rotation on Vael is: Heroic queued entire time, BT > Revenge > Sunder

Some more advanced strats would be to use a diamond flask heal set for Vael, and also switching to Battle Stance to spam Executes at 20%. You could easily push over 1 - 1.2k DPS with this, and using Deathwish alongside Reck in the beginning with a Mighty Rage potion. Of course this mostly depends on how strong your tank heals are, and if you're properly geared. Never sacrifice hit% for mitigation or resists. Vael takes a ridiculous amount of setup if you're MT and you want to push yourself to the limit.

Hey man great video! Great classic WoW content which is rare. I subscribed. Quick question though. You play orc so why not use axes? I know in p1 there aren’t any good tanking axes, but with the BWL and ZG axes there are some good axes available. Just wondering. Thanks!

Really appreciate the sub! Regarding the daggers, there's a lot of reasons I didn't go axes. For tanking, I really enjoy the daggers smooth rage generation and ability to rapidly dump truck heroic strikes into a boss. I feel like I have more control over my rage during a fight vs. using a slower weapon. For the guild, there is an added benefit that we can gear our dope DPS warriors with the axes first. For a third benefit, I haven't bought Edgemaster's yet, as they are ~4000g+ on Whitemane, so using ACLG is a nice compromise.

I think as a tank horde side if you don’t have TF daggers is the way to go for fury prot until you can rock TF if you want to min max

Not an add on! Go to interface options --> raid profiles --> keep groups together

Great video, but can you add annotations for Onyxia Scale Cloak fights? A slightly important item to have equipped :P Broodlord: Instead of a warlock using Curse of Recklessness, they can apply Curse of Weakness to help smooth out the damage. Chromaggus: There is an alternative strategy for positioning. Much like your Firemaw set up with tank/healers on one side and DPS/OT/Raid heals on the other side. This has the added benefit of having the off-tank being in a 'better' position for Time Lapse; when TL does happen, the boss will only move in one axis (to and from the MT position). Instead of the moving side to side where repositioning is likely required.

@@TheDubpace I'm stepping into a main tank roll tonight and this gave me some great ideas. I do have a question about putting on a shield before a fire breath? I thought Shields only mitigate physical damage, not magical. So why not dual wield through a chromag fire breath?

@@AndrewGulledge The suggestion to put on the shield for fire breath is just an attempt to mitigate any extra damage that you're taking during that time, as Chromag will resume his physical attacks as soon as the breath goes out. The shield does not help vs. magic as you mentioned. Only you will be able to "feel" if you need to put it on, but I tried to suggest the safe-ish method for each breath.

It's actually not ElvUI! The unit frames are Shadowed Unit Frames and the action bars are organized with Bartender. Hope that helps :D

Quickie: I am a DPS Warrior with the bad habit of getting tank gear thrown at me in raids, so ofc I get to be offtank when we're short on those. So now for the actual question: As I am typically in standardized 16/34/0 talents for DPS fury Warrior, and I will most likely be in those talents while in raid. What are the best ways for me to excel at the offtanking, as in gear, rotation, anything? Anyways amazing video once again, keep it up, cheers!

Hey again Obi, thanks for your patience while I got caught up with all of the comments. When assigned to OT as a DPS warrior, be sure to make an item set that replaces your "squishiest" pieces (leather in particular) with nice mitigation gear. Try to focus on getting high stamina with decent armor, while also staying hit capped with +weapon skill. Be sure to tank in Defensive stance for the greatly increased threat generation, and I would also strongly suggest setting up the Shield Swap macro so that if you're taking too much damage dual wield you can put a shield on. Carrying some Greater Stoneshield Potions to raid is not a bad idea either. Lastly, just be confident in your ability to do a great job. The spec doesn't make that big of a difference for most OT duties. Hope that gets you started!

I am in the familiar position but I have a question about weapons, what is better for duel wield off tanking to have fast swinging weapons like you have with daggers vs more traditional weapons that a fury dps would have (brute blade, viskage, Crul'shorukh (axe from Nef), etc? Previously I’ve tanked with Crul'shorukh and Quel’serrar but I just got brutality blade and switched to curl + BB. My MT recommends I stay with Quel’serrar but I hear BB is better for threat generation but sometimes while OTing I do feel the rage generation is a bit slow. Any thoughts or recommendations? FYI, I’m human and I do have edgemasters.

@Newy I missed this reply sorry about the long delay. I do feel the fast weapon speed allows your rage generation to feel much "smoother" if that makes sense. Quel MH Brut blade OH is good. For low rage situations, it might be beneficial for you to look into heroic strike canceling to force your OH to hit. This is hard to do with a fast weapon in your OH, but brut blade would be perfect.

How much FR does your OT(s) have vs Firemaw?

I can ask, but I do know they wear at least SOME FR. Just from experience with the fight, I think an OT should wear between 150-200 FR and a mix of mitigation and threat gear. The Flurry + Shadow Flame can be unforgiving on the OT, and sometimes it takes healers a second to fully swap healing targets.

Jesse, thanks so much for the kind words my friend! Positioning is a tricky topic because some guilds/raid leaders position each boss differently, so I try to approach the topic with broad strokes. The reality is there are dozens of different ways to kill each boss and I try to not be TOO prescriptive with "my" method, because there are often equal (or better) ways to accomplish the same task. I know that feel when all the healers Hot and shield you and lose WBuffs and RED MESAGE from weakaura pops... it hurts so much. Tell your healers not to over HOT you and that stuff. Good video!

You need to remove Arcane Intellect! Also remove your Bloodthirst buff on yourself with an macro. You are getting buff capped and lost DM buffs on Razorgore from int, not from hots. Also use Sunders as fillers on Vael so your warriors dont have to stop on 1,2k dps and can do 1,7-1,8l as they should.

Great content. Most guides breakdown the overall fights but don’t go into detail how the tanks need to position or handle the fights (usually they are responsible for handling most of the mechanics). Was looking for something like this for a long time.

Just Demo Shout/Roar and Hunter Pet Screech Broodlord. Causes MS to hit for 3.9-4.5k with a Shield or 5k-6k on DW.

Demo Shout + Thunderclap (or thunderfury proc) helps a lot with mitigating Broodlord's attacks. We have our DPS warriors assist with that so I can focus my GCDs on the best threat generating abilities. Hunter pet screech is a fun idea! Thanks!

I'm currently fury dps but been thinking about going fury prot as my guild only has full prot tanks. I have deathbringer and nef axe, edge of chaos, I think? But I see you're an orc and still using daggers. Is this necessary or can I do well with the axes and weapon skill bonus Also can you link what mix of mitigation gear you use on the non fire resist bosses

I personally like using the daggers due to the smooth rage generation and the ability to dump excess rage extremely fast using heroic strike. Our #1 OT is also an orc and he uses DB + flurry axe. It is definitely viable to use axes, and in some ways even better since you don't have to use ACLG/edgemasters. I do think you might find some issues with the super slow 2.9 speed of DB, so consider picking up a Doom's Edge and doing Crul MH and Doom Edge OH. Let me know how it goes!

Hey, I made an updated list for the gear that includes my enchants. sixtyupgrades.com/set/tikgWgPAMtyv9emYJmK42s These aren't the bis enchants, nor am I wearing full bis gear. Head & legs will be updated with ZG enchants, shoulders will get the ZG exalted enchant, and the chest should be +4 all stats but it's extremely expensive so I'm waiting for SGC to drop!

Given that you're sitting easily 50% ahead of anyone on threat for Chrom and Nef, can you give me any good justification for not wearing a shield for the entire fight, at least once initial threat is secured? I see this all the time, and wonder what is the point in giving your healers extra work and risking crit/crush+shadow flame combos.

The reason is that you will not sustain that threat lead against pumper DPS while using a shield. Ultimately, you actually want to be taking more damage to generate more rage to sustain high TPS throughout the entire boss fight. Keep in mind that the warriors will creep up and start to close the gap during execute phase on many fights. On a boss like Chromaggus, you also want to sustain that threat lead to allow your caster DPS to pump during their class's vulnerability and have no fear about big back-to-back crits. It's all about giving space for your DPS to do their best work without fear of ripping threat. If there are survivability issues, it is likely rooted in the healers in the raid rather than having a dual wielding tank. TL;DR Using a shield too much can be a bandaid fix to a healing problem and can be gating your DPS from pumping harder.

For me personally, I'll only ever switch to shield on sketchy damage intake like Chromag's 20% phase or Warrior class call during Nef. It's important to edge in as much DPS/TPS as you can while being able to reliably manage incoming damage. Just gotta trust your healers know what they are doing.

Comment about nefarian's fears: They can come out more frequently than your berserker rage can. It is beneficial to have a visible counter for it that shows it's CD even in def stance, so you don't end up in zerker stance during the fear, unable to switch back before tremor pulses/fear ends. Especially if you don't have, or don't want to use death wish/retaliation.

Deathwish 30 seconds out from kill on vael, not at a %. Know your kill times. Don't use a shield on broodlord. I never have, rarely die and will keep you up for the threat knockoffs. Sometimes I even keep broodlord the entire fight for those server top parses although you need to be able to lean on your healers sometimes. Fast fights = higher rank heals and less mana pots though.

Max Thank you! This footage is a bit older, so my rotation is sloppy in a lot of the fights. The Vael fight in particular has a horrendous amount of wasted GCDs. Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes!

@@TheDubpace What I do in Vael is have another action bar with macroed skills just adding heroic strike to all the primary skills aka bt, sunder and revenge. That way with one click you are also queing heroic strikes at all times.

Hurt my soul to see you lose Fengus and Stam DMT buffs. Need to tell your priests to not bubble you! I’d also recommend a cancel aura macro for AI, Spirit, etc. and wouldn’t use a food buff. Good video though

Losing the buffs hurt that night - at the time of recording I was still learning about the buff cap and didn't know to not enchant my head & leg slots. Manually removing the AI spirit etc would've prevented losing those buffs, misplay!

TheDubpace well now you can enchant both! It has been hot fixed! A lot of tanks are doing crusader mh and Agi for oh. And just not using the less impactful consumes (food, armor elixir, etc). And training their healers to not use hots or shield. Buff limit takes some working around for sure

Luckily, our healers stopped using HoTs after that night (and I'm more vigilant about clicking off trash buffs) and I haven't had any issues since. Also the new +20 STR food is insane! Hop on the train!

Bazalt, Lomalka, Casinodaddy, Nokthanol. Like.... i'm still hesitating at execute phase about using mighty rage potion, over limited invulnerability

Yikes, you went over buff cap on the first fight and lost both your DM buffs. You had arcane brilliance as well. It looks like you are using the buff cap tracker. You can set that up to auto cancel some of the buffs you don't want so you don't have to keep checking. Here's a pretty useful tool I use to make sure I'm not using too many consumables while I have world buffs: querns.github.io/buff-cap/# Great videos though!
