Good morning Euan! Looks like you've made some great progress with the upgrades! The control panel looks way too complicated for me, so I'm glad I went down the DCC route! I hope Blackwood council gave you permission to wipe out the town! Lol! Loved the running session, especially that trio of 37's! All the best, Ian.

Lol Ian - quite a few people have commented on the demise of Blackwood High Street. The removal was the easy bit - what goes in its place is a tad more difficult. The control panel - just a few wires and LED's 😂 - simple really 😅. Plenty to keep me out of mischief 😁 cheers Euan

An excellent update, Euan, thanks. I had meant to ask you about your paint colour for the concrete sleepers, so thanks for reading my mind 😂

Hi Donald - hope you're well. Glad the section on painting was of some use. Hand painting isn't for everyone but I find it rather therapeutic if I'm honest. Loads still to do but that's the fun of this hobby 😊. Cheers Euan

That new curve looks brilliant Euan - so smooth and satisfying watching the locos run. That creates such a wonderful shot! Thanks for the master class on track painting - I have not attempted any track painting whatsoever on my layout, but that little sequence will be my go to vid for when I do start! Loved the running session, finished the video off nicely! Regards Steve

Hi Steve - glad you found the painting section useful. As I said in the video there are other ways to paint the track but this is one way which doesn't cost much and can be therapeutic ( well it is for me !). The running section is always fun to do - so glad you liked it. Cheers Euan

Very good Euan, it's amazing how much work is involved before the scenics commence, I am sure the way it runs with the longer trains is now a real pleasure.

Hi Chris - spot on ! I'm out most nights for around an hour after work - so I'm really busy on the layout but anyone just looking in thinks - he's not done much since last month ! The simplified track layout is really paying dividends - trains seem to love !! Cheers Euan

An orgy of track 💃 related lovelyness 🤩 Fantastic to see behind the scenes of the Growler Gang in operation 😉 I must add a "linen cloth" to my work tools list 😇 instead of the back of my sleeve 😳 The running session 👀 showed of the track to it's magnificent best 😍 who needs to watch the trains 🤭 although a triple headed Growler rake definitely grabbed my attention 😲 Looking forward to seeing what the New Town looks like 🤔 something Chandwellian or something Posh Granite 🤫 Very best wishes from the Leprechaun Isle ☘️

Hi Paul - "back of the sleeve" 😂😂. Truth be told the linen used to be my mother's best bed linen back in the day 😅. The track on show has already past muster by Mr I ( I edited out the bit that dips 😅). Yes a triple 37 - I forgot I was supposed to be filming while I watch them do several circuits of the layout. Oh the town - I'll need to employ Michael Scott as chief architect 😊. Cheers Euan

Hi ya Euan. Brilliant update buddy. You certainly have lots of patience doing that track. Wow that switch board makes mine look a very poor effort. Great job there Euan. Love you road bridge. Hope the people in the flat above the shops got re housed ok. 😄 Lovely running session, thanks mucker. Stay safe. ....Pete....

Great improvements Euan. I can imagine it was a tough decision to remove the town, but if youre not happy, its the best descision. Ill look forward to what you do in replacement.

Hi John - If something just doesn't look right it needs to either go or get changed - so a bit like yourself in that respect. What goes in place of the high street I'm still figuring out ! Cheers

Hi Euan, that’s a lovely viaduct, I might have to make one myself! 😁 Track work looks very good and thanks for the how to on painting the track, it’s another way that I like stored in my brain! Looking forward to to the town scene developing again Euan I think it’s going to keep you out of the pub for a while🤔😂 Cheers mate, John

Hi John - we shall need to compare efforts in our bridge building 😅. Glad you found the track painting section useful. I don't have an air brush (wouldn't trust myself with one) so hand painting it is. I find it a great way to unwind after a day in the office if I'm honest !! The demise of the High Street - eveyone is commenting on this - never realised it was so popular😅. Next thing I'll know they'll be a petition getting started to save it😅 cheers Euan

Personally, I model in 00 Gauge. My layout represents Dad’s Army and mostly runs Southern Railway steam locomotives with green carriages and, for the freight side of the layout, a range of open wagons. My main locomotives are a Wainwright C Class, an M7 Tank Locomotive and a T9 Greyhound.

Hi Euan, Interesting update! bit of a shock that the town has gone, but I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before it gets replaced. I'm really looking forward to the new build as the standard of modelling you can achieve, is a real pleasure to watch. Nice to see the triple Growlers, about time that we had some proper class 37 action! How's the class 59 doing? did you have any issues, or did she run sweet from the start? Nice to meet you at Glasgow and hopefully we can do it again in the future. All the best Tony.
@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge3 ай бұрын
Hi Tony - it was great to meet up in Glasgow last month along with Stephen and Donald. If I'm honest it was the retaining wall at the front of the town and the road slope which just weren't right - so all the shop keepers got their marching orders. That was the easy bit now to try and think what goes in place of the high street. Yes 3 37's - just one of those light engine movements 😅. The 59 is performing very well. It's pulling power is second to none as the loco is 103g in weight - so 6g heavier than a Farish 66 and a whopping 15g heavier than Dapol's effort. Cheers Euan

Hi Euan, lots of work in progress and so far it’s looking great. All the time spent doing the wiring and track work definately pays off when the scenics happen. Never a rush of course and best to take time. Lovely long trains and although a few speed limits being broken, they look awesome. Pullman looks beautiful running round Blackwood I must say. All the best, Chris
@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge3 ай бұрын
@@wheezypalacemodels7726Hi Chris - yes the class 170 was going full tilt. It's an old 2nd hand unit - only goes fast 😅. Thought you might have liked the Pullman out for a spin - added a touch of class to the running session. Plenty to keep me busy on the layout that's for sure ! Cheers Euan

I wouldn't want to have a business in Blackwood Town. You'd never know for how long the lease would run. Interesting that you never stuck down the buildings. I can see that you have made a lot of progress even if it doesn't always appear so. Withe control panel done, and the track now how you want it, you can start on the more cosmetic things. The Pullman did look good running around the layout, and not out of place in terms of design with the newer traction. Stephen
@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge3 ай бұрын
LOL Stephen - yes the businesses weren't happy at getting their leases " terminated". Everything at this stage is time consuming - so anyone looking in gets the impression not much is going on ! Once the ballast is in and a couple of road bridges get built then the scenery should start to appear. I've ordered a couple of signals from Absolute Aspects - so your bit on your own update was timely ! Two month lead time to build the two signals ! Cheers Euan

Hi Euan, the curves look great now with the trains running! Your control panel and the overall set up is really coming together nicely! The track painting looks great I may well copy your technique when I get to that point 😉. Enjoyed the running session, I think in one of you earlier videos I saw you had a Farish class 37 West Coast, what’s your thoughts on it is it a nice loco I’m thinking of investing in one? Cheers Gary
@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge3 ай бұрын
Hi Gary - many thanks for your kind comments. Glad the painting section might be of some use in the future. The WCR 37 runs beautifully - I just don't have any appropriate stock to run behind it - so for the immediate future it'll run light engine. Cheers Euan

Brilliant Euan but Blackwood is no more 😢 it sounds like an SNP decision "we don't like that town get rid of it" 😂 something nicola would say and do if she'd had the chance. Sure you'll come up with something. Always enjoy watching your trains cheers Andy

Hiya Euan what are you going to do about those OHLE gantries now that N Brass locomotives are no longer available since Nick Tilston has retired??
@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge3 ай бұрын
Good question! Well first of all I purchased quite a few of the gantries from Nick before he retired. Westhill Wagon Works is going to release N gauge OHLE in the Autumn. I spoke with the guy at Model Rail Scotland who has designed them. He had the OO version on display which looked excellent and he said they are currently working on reducing them to N gauge. One feature I liked about them was the way they are fixed to the baseboard. Magnetic bases - so if you knock them they just return to being perpendicular . Cheers Euan
@spongatejunction3 ай бұрын
Indeed I spoke to the guy at Westhill wagon works and they confirmed this they should be available in time for either GETS or TINGS
