Back to 2002. At that time, comic-book adaptations were slowly starting to appear again on the schedules of the big Hollywood studios, but the beginnings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were still a long way off.
A few weeks before the smashing success of Sam Raimi's fantastic SPIDER-MAN sent shockwaves through the industry, Guillermo del Toro's BLADE 2 revolutionised the codes of the genre, completely rethinking the way comic-book style was brought to the big screen.
Building on the solid foundations of the first film, the future Oscar-winning director of THE SHAPE OF WATER and his team experimented with a new language of cinematic action, one that was to set new standards and be rapidly exploited on a quasi-industrial scale in the years to come.
