Philosophy tutorials - reasonio.wordpress.com/tutori...
This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Blaise Pascal's unfinished work, the Pensées, specifically on his distinction between two different conceptions of God - God as understood by the philosophers, and the God of religious believers, the "God of faith".

A mind full of wisdom and a heart full of love is the God of the Philosopher. But the desires of the heart are legion, and it bearing the emotions which drive the creature, it can easily engage the otherwise reasonable mind towards its own ends - conscience, intuition and the neighbors be damned. A Mind full of Love and a Heart full of Wisdom is the God of the Mediator, or the Way. The manner in which Blaise Pascal distinguishes between the Philosophia and the Philokalia of the Way just blows my heart and my mind wide open. I believe that Blaise Pascal could engage his mathematical and intuitive minds with more or less equal gravitas, but if forced to choose, he would follow his intuition towards his vocation, even at the calculated cost of his occupation. A heart full of faith. How unfortunate that the Pensées is an unfinished work? This is probably the most interesting video I have watched this year. Now I must try to be patient, waiting for your next one. Thank you for the good work you are doing. Please keep it up 🕊

Professor Sadler, I have been a fan of your videos for a long time. Your videos have helped to enrich my educational experience and stimulate my always curious mind. I would like to thank you for this. I recently finished reading Søren Kierkegaard's work "The Concept of Anxiety" and noticed that there is a lack of accessible lectures/lessons on this work. Which seems odd because the material that I have been able to find on this book claim that it inspired many Existential philosophers & psychologists (Themes of Heidegger certainly jumped out at me during my reading). Have you ever read the work and have you ever considered giving a lecture on it?
