Found this interview very interesting...love the anecdote he shares about Julie getting angry....Julie has said a number of times in her early interviews that Blake has encouraged her to show her emotions more...and I'm intrigued by the movie idea that he mentions about the 4 years of their lives prior to Victor/Victoria, i had heard him speak about the same in another radio interview, it would have been interesting to see it, guess we'll have to wait for Julie's 3rd memoir to read about those happenings and Thank YOU for uploading this ❣️.

Such great talent! I saw V/V in Chicago on it's way to Broadway. The only time I got to see Julie live and was overcome with awe of her talent. I saved my Playbill and mailed it to her and she and Blake autographed it for me! Unfortunately a few years later our house burned and that Playbill was destroyed! But, I will always have those wonderful memories!

Blake Edwards was a very interesting man. Surely not an easy one but passionate about bis job and very honest in his films. And he loved Julie very much. He repeatedly said she always was his pillar of strength. He has always interesting things to say.

Read Julie's latest book (and the previous one) She is so enlightening, albeit slightly aloof in her writing of her second memoir.

@@Shamsithaca yes, infact she was more forthcoming in her 1st memoir; however, i appreciate whatever little she liked to share with us fans and was very honest about certain aspects of her life...hope that she feels comfortable enough to share more in her 3rd memoir.

@@tashmivyas Felt slightly hurried in a way particularly about music and towards the end. But what great timing, with Corona, she may have had to delay it indefinitely. Her first book was extremely well written.

@@Shamsithaca i did not mind her rushing through TSOM since she has spoken about it so much through all these years and probably she wanted to quote just the good things..infact i wanted to know more about her other movies and concerts and personal issues..again towards the end i believe she did not want delve into talking about Blake's health issues too much...wasn't surprising knowing she is such a private person...i completely agree that her first book was extremely well written, i wonder if the openness had something to do with Blake being around.

I met Blake Edwards and talked to him a few times at the Marquis, after watching V/V. It was a little daunting for me due to all the rumors about his being kind of angry or so but I was so surprised because in fact he was so polite, nice and friendly to me on all those occasions. I took some photos with me, which I treasure. The video is great.

He DOES look very intimidating. I don’t think I would have managed to get even one word out in English.

Imo, if anyone has truly come even close to knowing and understanding Julie, it is Carol Burnette. I sincerely respect and admire Julie for more than a few reasons, and, even from a distance, I am truly grateful these two strong, talented, intelligent, beautiful women have had the mutual loving support of one another all the years that they have, especially being in the particular, challenging professions of entertainment, of Hollywood, through which they have given us so very much.

Not sure why Darling Lili isn't beloved. One thing is undeniable about it: the Henry Mancini music is stunning. Love the theme song Whistling Away the Dark.

Here they begin by saying what the downsides were of the show, a couple are mentioned. But one of the biggest was Julie losing her voice forever, from what I feel, was because of this show.

I'm thinking it sort of accelerated it. Doing 8 shows a week will do that, I suppose. But I'm guessing it would have had to be done anyway.

@@TheJulieAndrewsArchive I believe the consensus now is that surgery was unnecessary. She needed vocal rest and noting how strong she is, her body would have healed the cyst naturally. and I personally feel that had she been practicing her scales as she did as a young woman and sung only healthy pieces suited for her vocal fach, her voice would have recovered. No one can sing like that low and that grinding and yelling for 8 shows a week. You can tell she was having vocal issues during rehearsals; in one clip she says, can you please stop to orchestra and that if she went on any further she would damage her voice. She also says while laughing, shes sounding squeeky. and in other interview you can clearly tell her voice was suffering. Its really tragic with all the signs. Her voice throughout her career sounded so healthy and clean until right before Victor Victoria stage version.

@@KK-iz5pl Vocal cards are amazing. JUDY Garland voice never had that issue despite her drug use and unhealthy lifestyle, whereas Julie said she started to lose her range as a teenager, both child prodigies working hard, singing in TV shows etc. I love Julie Andrews, and Judy Garland

I haven’t read any of Julie's books about her life so I can’t specifically on that. Recently I've the opportunity to watch several KZfaq videos of interviews with Julie. She was being interviewed with her daughter, Emma. She specifically made a comment about having 5 children, not only Emma. Two of the 5 are Blake's son and daughter. Another two are her adopted daughters. It has also been mentioned, in print, that she does have other children besides Emma. However, they chose to live a life outside of the limelight. This was from a book that she and Emma co-authored. Likely because the daughters want a very private live Julie rarely mentions them. That's my two cents anyway.
