[Blake Griffin] All I Do Is Dunk, Right?

The perception of young NBA star Blake Griffin is a one dimensional player in which is game consists of one thing, dunks. False, it starts with his offence, and this mix is a compilation of Griffin's post game and moves.
This is still fairly standard too, what you see in the video isn't going to be where Blake's game extends too. It's still fairly raw and he's still expanding his game and moves each game he plays, yet it's obvious he's got a post game, he's got the soft touch, he's got the ability to knock down the jumper. You can see it evolving.
Watch it, see if you think all he does is dunk still.
Comments and feedback wanted!

it's clear that people just hate griffin for no reason saying he doesn't have any other moves, he dunks and posterizes people a lot that it overshadowed his post moves, jumpshot, taking 3's when necessary, coz they only watch highlights and what he does best is dunking but he has a lot of moves as well and for a PF he's quick, agile and can shoot, not the best shooter but for a PF he's decent, when vince carter dunked a lot during his prime he was a legend but when blake does it people complain!? come on, vince carter is a shooting guard so he needs to shoot the ball more often rather than just dunk the ball, i wont lie vince is better but if it comes down to semantics he should shoot the ball more often rather than dunk it, which a Power Forward is supposed to do, so don't blame blake if he dunks a lot.
@boypula

***** he's a power foward! He's supposed to dunk like that! Get the players intimidated, vince should be shooting more coz he's a shooting guard.

Seriously... Great music and nice editing. But in regards to Blake's game, I've always been a huge Blake fan but you definitely see his game improving. Just looking at his footwork is pretty darn amazing. He'll be a superstar for sure. (of course he kind of already is)

Appreciate it. I'm thinking of a part 2 to get all this year's highlights.. I've been obviously a huge fan since him coming out of college, his game has improved a lot. A lot of people don't see that and just focus on being 'over-rated', I see his skill though, and there's a lot there. It's scary if he put it all together.

I've said it before, but again it's because so many people just see the sportscenter or youtube Blake Griffin, then see how people claim he's overrated and that's there opinion. He has been hyped a lot but I wouldn't say it's for being the best bball player, he gets hyped because of his freakish athleticism. I just can't wait to see him keep getting better.
@boypula
@boypula 11 жыл бұрын
indeed, his athleticism is off the charts for a power forward, not many pf's have great ball handling skills like BG, i think people criticize him too much that they don't realize that it's only been two years (correct me if im wrong) since BG was drafted as an nba player yet he can put up 20 and 10 on the court, he is still young and has a lot to learn but not bad for a rookie.

Your spot on, this video made me want to do one with everything you just mentioned. Passing ability, special ability to do what other big men can't, even dribbling he's got great hands for a big man. so don't worry, I'm going to make another mix (soon) not focusing on post moves but instead, the 'everything else' in his game like you mentioned.
@mmmichael33
@mmmichael33 11 жыл бұрын
Definitely. His left hand, nothing special yet but I've seen him go to the lefty hook a few times, you can tell it could be effective. Since he came into the league there's been huge improvements in most area's though (post game, jumpshot, post moves) you've just got to watch a few Clipper games to see that.

Good video man. I hate when people say, "All Griffin does is dunk." They have obviously never watched a full game of his. Keep workin' that post BG!

The first few years blake griffin entered the league, he was just a dunker. Let's be honest with that. But when you watch him play now, you can see the improvement. You can see he can now put his back to the basket better, and that his post moves have really improved. I'm happy that Blake did not stay a dunker. If he keeps this up, he may really be as great, or even better than Duncan in the future. His development these recent years just shows us that he has a great attitude - he accepts criticism and responds to it in a good way.... unlike a 6'10-11" center I know of which until now doesn't have any other move than a dunk and a face-up (even if he had training camp with the Dream).

Amazing pass at 4:05. I love the video. My only suggestion is to show more of his great passing ability. I believe there were only two assists shown here, but he can often be seen throwing lobs to DJ or getting the ball to other cutting teammates. Also, I'd love to see one or two example of him going coast to coast. His coast-to-coast finishes are especially rare, because not too many big men can grab a rebound and handle the ball all the way downcourt before finishing for two.

I can see why people say BG32 has no post moves. I mean, the media never shows a post move in a Griffin highlight video, and the way the Clippers play, Blake doesn't need to do a post move most o the time. But, he's so overrated that he's actually underrated if you know what I'm saying. People saying he's not even top 10 PF because he can only dunk even though he's arguably top 3.

i know his post moves arent the best but currently they are dependable. If he needs to score a basket desperately he relies on his post hook shot. He is not the best player in the league or in the post by any means. However, he has the skill and power needed as a great post player. He does deserve to be a first pick in the 2009 draft. He delivered on everything that people thought he would deliver on. In his rookie year he gave the NBA one of the most exciting and stunning stat lines and dunks that the NBA hasnt seen from a rookie in years. Yes, Stephen Curry is a great player and has finally seen his potential. But, to that I ask Golden State fans, did you see Curry rising to this stature when he was paired along with Ellis in your backcourt. I'm pretty sure that Curry has reached his potential, but Blake Griffin has yet to.

i actually believe that Blake is capable of scoring 22+ points, 4+ assists, and 11+ rebounds a game. In his rookie season he really wanted to be the hero that brought the clippers back to relevance. However, once Chris Paul signed he felt a little more "comfortable" and wasn't as aggressive as his rookie season. Plus, with all the skills he gained since his rookie season it is possible to get those points much easier along with Chris Paul that is.

Simple fact of the matter is this is a nice little highlight reel, but these are all tough shots he's making. Good post moves aren't about making tough shots, it's about making tough shots easy by eliminating defense. Watch bballbreakdowns video about the lakers vs. clippers and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Everything you see in my vids are from youtube so there are individual player highlights uploaded (not a heap except for star players though), for example 'Blake Griffin full 26pts vs TOR' with date of the game.. where there's only his highlights. Otherwise your gonna have to chop them out from game highlights probably

To be fair, it's lousy rapping over “Intro” by The XX. The song title gives no credit to the actual aurally pleasant aspect of the track. And considering it's a mostly instrumental track of the XX, it's technically Jamie xx's song. Whoever the Blue Scholars are, they don't deserve credit.

not saying all he does is dunk but he doesn't draw double teams enough to get his shooters up because hes not a great post player for his size. When people like hibbert Duncan or Dwight guard him he either doesn't touch the ball or fades away when he gets it. For the Clippers to get a ring this is what hes has to do. Anybody that thinks he can win a ring doing what he does now has never watched an NBA game.
