While "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton was grilling some dinner for himself outside, he got an unexpected visitor: a possum who decided to feast on his meal! Blake shares footage of the cute critter chowing down and admits that he actually enjoyed hanging out with his new friend.

Kelly, it’s extremely rare for possums to contract rabies because their body temperatures are too low. Possums are good to have around because they eat ticks and small snakes. They are generally docile critters and the worst they’ll do is hiss at you if startled.

I was gonna say the exact same thing. I have a possum which I want around because they eat ticks and I take care of colonies of cats and then I have a raccoo who loves to play but keeps all the bad pets away from my cats. He just pretends he is a cat in the meantime.

Possums rarely get rabies, rarely bite, and they eat ticks. My mom is gonna be so jealous when I tell her that Blake pet one on his first close encounter. We've been feeding them for years and my mom has contemplated grabbing one for cuddles, but they run away when we open the door. She's obsessed with nocturnal animals, especially possums and raccoons.

Talking about possums, I saw one the other day on top of the seating of back porch of my deck and surprisingly I was calm when I saw it, but I was inside my dining room when I saw it through the window doors.

I have a possum. Came to my farm injured stayed for the spoiling! Sleeps and eats with my barn cats eats up all the ticks...she's not the nomad they're known to be..

I had to laugh at that, too. It's extremely rare for them to carry the disease. I'm sure Blake knew that. And then the coyotes chasing the crackhead popstar while he was trying to get fresh air in a polluted city. 😂 He was high as a kite and was hallucinating.

Yes they do. Rare but true. Same with rodents. They rarely survive such an attack but it happens on occasion. Fact check or call your extension center they'll confirm

@@bethminer7966 I was part of the committee w ODNR that got them taken off the rabies vector species list here in Ohio. Their body temperatures are too low to incubate it. So yea, a 1:million chance.
