💙Phil Collins is a genius at everything he does! He's earned and deserved to be in the RRHOF as a Solo Artist for his MANY significant contributions to music history!!🏆👏 He's been egregiously overlooked for 18 years!!😡

I love how dry Phil is... pure beautiful British humour... Letterman doesn't know how to handle him lol! Greetings from England xxx

I just read his book and didn't realise he had a British accent still. He's funny as. I'm English and get him totally.

Phil. The perfect man. Talented, gorgeous, hilarious & most importantly, a nice, humble man. I adore his dry sense of humor ❤

I love how Phil was this huge superstar, but never really did the superstar character. He was always honest in these kind of interviews. If he had a chance to make a joke he'd do it, but he never put on a fake persona.

"The album's an album." "The song is really the song." "The record is the overall record." Only Phil Collins could explain awards that way and make it funny! 😅

When Phil Collins and Steve Hackett joined Genesis, magic happened. How I wish I could have seen them perform during that time. I am lucky to have seen them around the mid to late-80's where they performed Supper's Ready in it's entirety, and quite a few from the Duke album (which, in my opinion, is very enjoyable). Some of the ABACAB stuff was good. The song Mama was great live, as was Home by the Sea and Second Home by the Sea. Wishing Phil all the best these days. Stay up, Phil.

Mama is one of the best songs!!!! Simply love how Phil performs it both on the album and live. Incredibly powerful. And I agree about Home by the Sea and the Second HBTS.. I love all that album actually. And, well, I prefer live performances with Phil, not Peter. On albums, Peter is of course very good but not live. He is not as versatile as Phil, who can sing very taxing parts as well as quiet and soft parts..he's something else really❤

So interesting that during this time Phil was adamant that he wasn't influenced by rap music, while now he tells anyone who will listen that Grandmaster Flash's The Message was instrumental for Genesis' Mama.

I don't think so. If I come across it I'll certainly post it, but this seems to be the only Letterman appearance I have from the "But Seriously" period. I have two later appearances I plan to post if I haven't already ('93 and '94), but those don't have that song. I plan to scour my garage for more tapes, but I think I may have already found them all.

Phil Collins didn't release a solo album in 1991 but his band Genesis did release a studio album called "We Can't Dance". This album was originally released in October 1991.

It's not right that Letterman is interviewing Phil Collins and highlighting MC Hammer's career. It's an insult to try and give credit for Phil Collins' work to MC Hammer.

Ha, i don't think anybody enjoys Lettermans' company, but Phil is a professional and in those pre www/web days any way of conecting to your fans was important and Phil understood this and did his best to make the most of a media appearance.
