Never heard that one before Fury said it here to be honest mate. “You’re only as good as your last fight” (typically attributed as being and Andre Ward quote but been around far longer than that) or “You’re only as good as your last performance”. But, Fury’s quote here? Never heard it before. Sounds like a good excuse though.

The thing I loved about this, is you can clearly see Tyson’s frustration with people trying to make excuses for him. Almost as if they’re downplaying Francis by saying Tyson must’ve not been up to form, ect. He’s more than happy to give Francis is props as a boxer, and how well he done in the fight. Just because he wasn’t on his best form on the night, that does not equate to Ngannou being not good. Both things were true, Ngannou boxed very well & Tyson is more than happy to let people know he was a good opponent for him

I don't know, I wasn't there, but it seemed like Francis, despite his lack of prior long term boxing training, did surprisingly well. My take aways were that Francis hit harder than Tyson had expected and that Tyson, despite landing more punches, didn't appear to damage Francis Ngannu to the same extent that he was damaged. I think Tyson will need to increase his cardio and drop some weight before Usek, because of Usek's speed and boxing skill. Props to Tyson and Ngsnnu for showing up and giving it their best.

Real friends demand nothing of one another; actual friends simply, "enjoy being in the presence of each other." -- But if you're speaking of respect, then I would find that more agreeable. And mind you, this fight was nothing more than a tremendous cash-grab for Tyson Fury, that he felt he couldn't pass up, when they approached him to take a non-title fight against Francis. Sure, Francis got 10mil(USD) -- but Fury got a "guaranteed 50mil(USD) + PPV cuts" to take this fight, which is Tyson's biggest payday ever... including all his fights against Wilder "combined."

Things like this make people into better fighters. You learn very little from winning all the time. It made Fury complacent, and he walked into the ring, thinking he could win on ego and self-confidence alone. If he does fight again, this will cause him to be more focused. It's also worth not underestimating the danger of walking into the unknown. Boxers usually watch footage of their opponents as part of the preparation, but on this occasion there was no footage to see.

That's not underestimating him. It's what's known as banter or sh*t talk to put it crudely. Underestimating him would be to not train correctly or Fury actually thinking NGannou was going to be very easy to beat. I certainly underestimated NGannou as did 99% of people. That's why they are saying he was robbed, now, when he clearly wasn't. Fury won decisively.

Many layers to Tyson fury , this one seems to be the real one , amazing effort really getting up off the canvas to re engage Francis , who also was truly amazing , many of boxers would have taken the knock down as chance to escape , that's a champion , usyk is amazing also can't wait for that fight , cheers from Australia

All I saw there was honesty, he was clearly disappointed how fight went, he made no excuses, and gave the other fighter respect, I do think he underestimated him but this fight although viewed as a circus by many, may be the grounding Tyson needed, he ain’t an idiot and would have learnt from this experience

The fight was essentially the real-life version of the Creed/Balboa fight in Rocky 1, complete with the early knock-down of the champion. Life imitating art. It sets up a monster rematch for a record purse for both men. Perhaps Tyson Fury will take the rematch a bit more seriously and come into the match in some semblance of shape. Fury and Ngannou are essentially business partners in this endeavor. Well-played by all.
