The 310 has to be the coolest twin ever built for general aviation. They look fast just sitting in the hanger. Someone sure loved Harvey, that is one super clean 62 year old airplane... Enjoy.

Hard to believe it was from 1959. Just a little younger than me but much better looking! A really beautiful design and very well cared for. What a treat. Thanks Juan, Jordan, all.

The 310 was my first complex aircraft ride from Hartford to Marthas Vineyard in 1966. I was 17 and got hooked. I retired at 65 flying the 310. Except it was a brand new Airbus A310!! Two motors and two pilots to share the fun!!! I instruct in radio control which is much harder but cheaper. I have a $250 Cessna 310 from Hobby King with retracts and flaps and has no oil as it has two brushless electric motors. On low passes I imitate the sound and we laugh a lot at my club!!!! Keep up the great videos! VicT

The value of an older plane continues to impress. A 1959 310 has a utility that is as good as current renditions at a fraction of the price. With tender loving care like Juan’s, Harvey should be good for many more years of faithful service.

Ol' Harv has been maintained with love over his lifetime. It's nice to see that there is still interest in working on what are now becoming "vintage" aircraft, for a living. It looks like Jordan has been doing a excellent job keeping Harvey airworthy for the past few years. 🙂

I joined the Navy flying club at NAS Lemoore because they had a T-34 for rent, seems the chief pilot was a man who flew for an FBO at the airport I learned to fly at and drove a fuel truck, the man remembered me. I had 12.5hrs in a turbo arrow which qualed me for solo flight in the T-34, fun times because I would take any of the junior enlisted in my class out for a flight around the central valley. Where else could you rent a T-34 for 40 per hour wet..

I grew up on a North Central Iowa farm near Beeds Lake (NW of Hampton 4 miles). Adjoining our farm is to this day, a private grass strip runway (great weekend stop as the lake is just across the road from the hangars). Still hangared there is a VERY low time 310 D. The original owner has long since passed, but his daughter still owns and loves that beautiful bird. Can you imagine taking off a 310 from a 2,500' grass strip with 50' trees on the NW end of the runway?

When I was young and dumb and I worked at a general aviation airport in Minnesota I frequently had to taxi a 310 that was based there. It was a newer model that had the swept wing tip tanks and I think it was fuel injected. I taxied different twins before I got my multi-engine land rating. My favorite twin was a piston high wing Aero Commander.

Hey mate, Jake here. I figured I'd spend a few minutes with you and in the process share a few perspectives that may be of interest...? Love your 310, I think I'd much prefer your injected one than Carbs that Jimmi's has. Yours is gorgeous. I mostly wanted to say- the integrity of your channel goes a long way- for those who have ears. My great uncle I discovered is Hudson Fysh who was a co-founder of QANTAS, his books are an awesome read- I recommend it mate- some stunning reading- for example flying Australia to UK over 3 days when they first began that- and him being CEO he wrote not only of piloting but also managing pilots- their fatigue, and also fuel management, with mistakes needing to be raised with those pilots as near misses- such as running their aircraft so low on fuel- having to land on some tiny island somewhere in the middle of the ocean- and fatigue also factoring. Hudson wrote also on the early days before QANTAS had an engineering team, they had to do all their own work. Having to fly out and camp in the bush where there had been a forced landing- and rebuilding an engine over two weeks while having to hunt parrots with an air rifle to feed themselves while they rebuilt the engine. A spare engine block was flown out to them in the passenger seat of another plane- and so on. Fascinating stuff. You know as a boy- the eldest born of 4, and only male, I used to wish I had a brother, so I used to pretend I had an older brother called Derrick, who was a pilot for QANTAS. But little did I know, I'd find out it was in my family- if you want to look/ search Jasper Lewis Bolton- you will see Ball Family Records. My mother is Glenda, and you will see my Aunties Mary, Silvia, Jo, and uncle Tom. Jasper my Grandfather I never met. His mum Emma Charlotte Fysh- follow that tree, You will find Hudson. What was amazing, my wife and I had been spending most weekends in Dural NSW- where he and Nel his wife are buried- we only discovered all of this after 20 years of being in Sydney pursuing careers and not having any family in Sydney. It meant so much to me to discover I had family there, and with his service history I am so proud. I served 24 years in Navy, and appreciated the humanitarian work, I served on amphibious ships . Sadly I lost a close friend who took me flying often over the Solomon Islands and East Timor- Leut Paul Kimlin, who died in Shark 02 incident. I can tell you so much mate, the maintainers really fu@#d up. Also, I felt the impact of the blackhawk off Fiji in 06. What's weird is they ruled pilot error- yet survivors came in some covered in blood- others not. The ones not bleeding said they jumped out before the impact because they said they could hear something was wrong with it. View footage on KZfaq if interested. Okay buddy, I just felt inclined to tell you to keep doing your important work mate. Some people will refuse to learn, but many will discover the importance of it. I know a couple of pilots who don't want to know, and they are not naturals- it's a bit like motorbike riders. Some get it, but most are unaware of how it really is out there if you neglect anything in your methods and awareness. God Bless mate. Jake in Aus. I'm back in Vic now- it's getting insane here!! - I miss NSW.

My buddy used to fly Chieftans back in the 90's and he'd shutoff the prop sync and give a nervous flyer the job of keeping the props from whaaing... (He only gave them access to 1 of the prop govs...) Funny how giving a nervous flyer a simple task to do really makes the flight much more fun for them. Beautiful machine Mr Juan!!! With you maintaining her, she'll be around for another 60 years :-)

The next time you have a hankering to burn Avgas, give us an update on Lake Oroville and also check out the progress on the slide up Hwy-70. Don't forget: Sled dogs lead in the North.

What a HANDSOME super clean 'as new' aircraft with that '180' tail and the '262' front gear ..as a kid i always thought Willy M must have had something to do with that tall spectacular nose-gear?? Wonderful..! And those earlies are just the best of them for the sheer joy of 310 piloting..!

Very cool, The 310 has to be the best looking airplane ever. I have a 60 Comanche 250 (KPRC) so same era. Oil change w/filter I fill with 10 plus 1.6 oz/qt cam guard. I let it go to 8 before adding a qt. It hovers btwn 8 and 9 without blowing it out. I got my private Camoran Park 1992 so pretty familiar with your terrain. Good post!

Thanks Juan, as a 63 year old guy I wish I was in the shape that airplane is in! As a genuine Sky King kid I have always loved them, got to go up in one as a young man, we had a family friend who stirred my love of planes with his 182. My Dad helped him build a Starduster Too, and we were at the hangar one weekend working on it when another friend of theirs came out to do some stuff with a 310 they had. I got offered a short ride...will never forget it...fer a few minutes there I was Sky King, LOL.
