Did you know that Blaster Master for the NES had two different stories for the Japanese and American versions? Or that Blaster Master Zero attempted to unify the two fictions by creating a new story that merges elements from both together?
And who is this new "Eve" character, anyway?
I go into a lot of detail and try to explain it all in this video.

A couple things I'd like to add that I didn't say in the video: • A lot of people who play the game seem to be unaware of the chats during the pause screen. They add a lot to the story. To have those chats, go to the pause screen and click Eve's face near the "transmit" button. If she has nothing new to say, she'll simply describe weapons you have. But usually she has new things to say when you first enter areas, after you beat bosses, and after any major story moments. Some of the chats are even dramatic bits of dialog, and one is a cutscene where Eve reads classified information about her past. • The game has a "retro" art and sound style, but it is not themed after the NES, SNES or Genesis. However, that doesn't mean it's "generically retro" or anything like that. It's instead themed after the TG16. Since the TG16 sold badly outside of Japan, it's an odd choice considering Blaster Master had most of its popularity in the US. But that appears to be it. • In the novel, Eve is described as having red hair. In this game, she's blonde, similar to Jennifer Cornet from the original JP version of Blaster Master. Another reason why I thought Eve was Jennifer Cornet renamed. But apparently she really is her daughter instead.

Sunsoft: so, are going to adapt the JP story, or the US story? Inti Creates(while reading the book): Yes

DAMN this is an underrated video. I thought it was really cool and interesting so thanks for making it. I never played the original Blaster Master but Zero is one of my absolute favorite Inti Creates games (especially with the DLC characters, oh man) and this was just some fascinating plot trivia. I definitely gotta make sure to read those extra dialogues in my next playthrough of the main mode.

There are a few additions to make. Eve in Zero is a robot as well, it's clear near the end of the good ending when she thought her memory circuits were malfunctioning. This is also not the first game Eve was present in. In the PS1 game Blaster Master Blasting Again Eve and Jason married had two kids who were the main characters of the game. That was also when she was first depicted as being blond.

Thanks for these details. I actually did know them (except for her first being blond in Blasting Again), but I wanted to at least keep some aspects of the story a surprise (in regards to Eve being an Android). (Also, if Eve has emotions, wouldn't that make her not a robot, but at least something more human-like? My 8-year-old nephew was trying to make sense of a robot having emotions, and concluded that she wasn't a robot)

I felt the same way when I played through Zero and Zero 2. Seeing all the callbacks and story tie-ins to the older games really gives the series new life, because it's not just a nostalgia cameo in most cases. There is weight to the references. For such a simple game, the story is surprisingly deep.

Why is the music of this game so good? I plan to play Master Blaster Zero 2 soon, and I needed a recap. I did not knew much about the stories of the original Nes and Famicom version so it was very useful. Thanks.

This is by far my favorite game on the NES. I spent many an hour playing it. I have since then played right through it at least over a 100 times since then. I love Blaster Master Zero. I have also completed it. As for Blaster Master Zero 2, while good, I feel is not as good as Zero.
