Doing this on a 2003 Blazer ZR2 only 82k on it . Took it to a local shop they told me it was the rear main seal and it would cost me $3,000 to fix it. Got a few more opinions 5 different shops each one told me something different. Valve covers $1.200 to fix or front main $2,000 to fix one even said it was all my seals and that I should just junk the SUV and they would give me $2k for it . The last shop said oil lines. I picked the cheapest one to fix 1st got lucky. But wow the repair shops I feel sorry for people who have 0 car knowledge. Thanks for this fix saved me a ton of $$$ :)

I just did this to my 95 2Door 4by4. It was a serious pain in the arse getting the tubes out. I had to use a tube cutter because mine would not slip out the front. Part # 14081300 and Wix filter #51040 fit fine. I did get the oil filter removal tool in 3/8th drive to tighten it cause of limited room for a hand. Worked great. Thank You.

Yeah I need to make a video on that next time.. You are correct some do have a bypass in the remote housing.. But all blocks have the bypass. I will show where the next time i do one or if i do an oil change on one of the previous ones.

Same fitting / no need to plug the holes or change the radiator unless you just want to. It will drain out then continue to drip for a week if you leave it open. So if you have a nice driveway keep that in mind.

So what happens to the two lines going into the radiator?

Will the original filter fit or is the stubby required? If you don’t respond i’ll just get the stubby anyways and test the original first

The blocks I’ve dealt with have no bypass (they’re plugged, pretty sure the bypass is in the remote assy) and IMO the stubby filter doesn’t flow sufficiently for a v6. So if/when your lifters start tapping, you’ll know why. I suggest either a filter with a built-in bypass (K&N makes one) or cutting off the rubber, flaring the aluminum pipe, and replacing with hydraulic hoses & hose clamps. That’s what I ended up doing.

Thanks for the video! Sounds like the GM adapter 14081300 works on first and second gen 4.3 s10's, but when I search for it its labeled as 1999-2005. Just wanted to double check before I order one for my 1991 s10 blazer.

So I own a 2005 Blazer 4x4 2Dr At the moment I am doing a 2.5 inch proper lift And ya the lines are leaking So get rid of the lines, Install the fitting (same one on 2nd gen?) Grind the tabs ..Plug the line holes? or not worry about the holes And get a Non cooler line rad ..when I get around to replacing the rad...Thanks BTW

There are 2 small tabs on the axle housing you will have to grind down with a die grinder..So the filter will slide up in..Also you will need a cap style filter wrench "steel" to tighten and remove filter.

Hello what about an 88 Cadillac Fleetwood oil cooler hoses. I was told they no longer make them. No luck with pull apart. It's our only vehicle and it's a bad leak. If we drive 10 mins away we have to put 4 quarts in her.

My change didn't go too well. I couldn't get anything on the bolt and finally was able to by jamming a crowbar in between the lines and then working a socket to it. After many many tries.Then the adapter would not come out until I wedged the crowbar between oil pan and front differential and put a lot of pressure to increase the pan to front differential case distance. Then I could not get the filter to get passed and up to where it was to screw on. I dropped down the driveshaft and still ran into an exhaust stud. I took my Dremel tool with a cut off disc and cut about 1/2 off the stud length and it finally went in . So beware. I guess removing the drive shaft to change filter each time will not be too bad.

There is no way to use an extension to get on the sideways bolt. The bracket for the case is directly in the way.

Ok. But why would you want to run a smaller filter, and 2. Why would you ditch the oil cooling. Cooler oil is better for the engine and lasts longer. But to each is there own i guess
