In order to reduce confusion when smoking new blends, I've set out to try certain tobaccos on their own -- isolated from other leaves, as close to natural and non-flavored as possible. My first two steps are Virginia and Burley, because I've heard they are the basis for many popular blends. This is the first of the Burleys. It was chosen because it has a great reputation and is considered a classic straighforward Burley.

Prince Albert. If I have smoked it it was years ago. I remember my dad using it in the early 1960s

I bought a tin from the 1960s not long ago. I'm going to give it a try and see if I can taste any difference in it. It's a very nice blend.

If you're looking to build a reference for what the individual tobaccos taste like, I might recommend looking up the C&D "Blenders Series". They sell them in the can as solo tobaccos, and might be what you're looking for.

You described that about the way i see it. I find myself reaching for Granger, Velvet, or sir Walter Raleigh more often.

Dude, those are on the list! @SouthAlabamaPiper31 says he could smoke Granger all day, and @SmokeSnacks says Raleigh tastes like horse piss. With reviews like that how can you NOT check them out? Lol

I do the same thing. Man I've really fallen in love with Prince Albert in the past couple months. It just keeps getting better while remaining the same. Next codgers in the drawer are Half & Half and Sir Walter Raleigh. On a Virginia run at the moment. Stick around and I'll have some videos on them for sure.

It's pretty good! Nothing special but an easy one to puff heavily.

The longer that stays in the tub it gets a chocolate aroma. I have 4 tubs in my cellar. I love Prince Albert and the aroma is old fashioned pipey.

Yes you nailed it! P.A. is a perfect palate cleanser. It can also de ghost a pipe.

This is interesting...I hadn't thought of using it to reset my pipes. No issues with ghosting in my pipes yet, but I sometimes experience ghosted "senses," if that makes sense. I'll smell or taste a tobacco when I'm nowhere near the pipe. Does that sound familiar to you?

I had the same issue that you have with Carter Hall. There was no way to buy it without getting a 50 gallon drum! I bit the bullet and got lucky -- Prince A. is good enough to keep around. Did you ever find a solution to Carter Hall?

P.A. is one of those wonderful old codger blends that is timeless 😃. Carter hall is another great one to try. I have some vintage P.A. from the mid 2000’s that I’ve been aging and it does get better with time in my opinion so it’ll be fun to see how your very vintage P.A. taste in comparison 👍👍 Have a great day

@TheNovicePiper
@TheNovicePiper 6 күн бұрын
@@2xbigbear390 The pipe I'm smoking in the video is an aristan pipe with no name or identification on it. I bought it at a local store and named it "Sam." The pipe in the thumbnail photo for this video is "Ed," and it's a GBD pot shaped (shape #9437) in the Prehistoric finish. If you look through my older videos you'll find videos where I show each of those pipes in greater detail.
