How to remake this: 1-subdivide the plane change the number of cuts to 50 then go to the particle properties tab and enable Cloth. Scroll down to "Collisions" and enable "Self-Collision" 2-create the cylinder and enable Collision in the particle properties 3-Position the plane right above the cylinder and start the animation by clicking the spacebar. 4-In the modifiers tab, apply "Cloth". go to object properties and change the origin to "origin to geometry. 5-Rotate the cloth to where you wanna fold it again. and repeat the same process. 6-when you're finished folding, position your cloth above a surface and let it drop on it by animating it. Add a "subdivision surface" and a "Solidify" HERE YOU GO.

its not really for complete beginners. but if you know the basics of physics in blender, its really simple. he didnt do much, except what you saw. he was basically just clicking play, then baking the simulation, clicking play again, and so on. just put a collision on the colider object, and add a cloth sim to the cloth mesh and youre ready to go. when done, add a solidifier to the mesh to give it some thickness.

In order to understand this, you need to watch tutorials on cloth simulation in blender. In a nutshell, he is using cloth simultion on the subdivided plane. (Subdividing a mesh is important since the more vertices, the more geometry detail a mesh can display, in this case the smoothness of cloth simulation). He adds a collision modifier to the objects that the plane interacts with. When the plane is in a form that the user is happy with, he applies the cloth simulation. As you can see, he does that multiple times for folds. That's basically the gist of it.

just add a collision modifier on the cilinder and plane, a cloth modifier on the cloth plane and a simple subdivision surface on the cloth plane. then click play in the animation tab. Finalize with a solidify modifier applied to the cloth, then shade smooth it.
