The MixRGB node is the legacy node that's still kept for compatibility, the new one you can get by using a Mix node and setting the type to color

Thanks for the heads up. It's very handy to have all the different mix functions in one node now!

ive never seen that grease pencil method for outlines lol. i see a lot of people use the other one you mentioned, although i personally found another method wich is a lot easier, less fiddly, and does look better in most circumstances. in the shader tab, you use the Fresnel node and multiply it over your texture with a mix RGB. you can use a colour ramp to change what colour you want the outline to be as well.
@Littlerolz
@Littlerolz 2 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s cool, I didn’t know the fresnel node could be used to make an outline like that. I’ll have to give that a go!

Is there a way to set up this shader where the shadows would blend better with objects theyre casted on? What i mean by this is that ive applied a normal map to the bdsf, but the object's shadows tend to be completely opaque, therefore obscuring the normal map and any other detail. How might i make the shadows less intense? Changing their color on the color ramp just obscures it with a different color

Why does the compression on this video look so low res? My player is set to 1080p and even when viewing it on a 1080p monitor, the smaller text of the nodes at some zoom levels are just 100% unreadable because it's just fuzzy, kinda looks like a low resolution video was upscaled to 1080p. I've made 1080p screencasts before and have uploaded them on KZfaq before and the text was always quite crisp when watching those videos back. Might be something worth checking into. What settings do you use when exporting your videos for upload?
@Littlerolz
@Littlerolz Жыл бұрын
Oh sorry about that. It looked fine my end when I edited it. Don’t know if KZfaq compressed it any more maybe or after the initial export. Don’t know. Either way I’ll set my text scaling to be a bit higher in future so it should still be readable even if compression takes a toll on it!
@tiaan_va

Is there a way to export the cross hatching shader into a texture to be used in another program like Sketchfab?
@Littlerolz
@Littlerolz 2 жыл бұрын
I think you should be able to but I can’t say for certain how it would work as I haven’t used sketchfab. But when you export files as .obj files they can keep their materials associated with them so I don’t see why you couldn’t do it

@@christopheralexander7640 haha yeah I think that should be bright enough lol. I assume you've got all the nodes set up correctly and you're in full render view. As far as I’m aware without digging into compositing and a lot of post processing there’s no way to apply a shader to an entire scene like that. You have to work on an object by object basis. You get far more control over what’s going on that way after all
