In this Blender 2.92 Tutorial I'll show you how to take a 2D drawing and make it into a 3D model!
This is Part 1/2 of this video. In this one I show you some quick basics and how to model your character. In the next part I'll teach you how to UV unwrap, texture, light and render your character.

Hi everyone! A few of you have mentioned that you've found the segment on making the hand a bit too fast to keep up with. Apologies for that! It was my first time making a tutorial so the pacing might not be perfect. I've made a little image of all the steps to follow for the hand which you can find here: imgur.com/a/edP5x8R I hope you find that useful and it helps you with the hand process! I'll try to improve my pacing and clarity in future tutorials as well 😊

Absolutely one of the best Blender tutorials out there. Excellent tips on blender but also intro to topology (like “why” to keep roughly square-ish faces) where most others gloss over or don’t even mention. Love the pacing. At first glance the finished project sounds intimidating to a newbie like myself, but you show how it’s very approachable and not too tough at all. Everything gone over applies to loads of other ideas and projects. Very inspiring. Keep up the good work!

this was a lot of fun, I definitely learned a lot! I had a lot of trouble doing some of the parts where it is more up to us, like modeling the hands and rotating and arranging the bags or eyes, it feels like I don't have enough control on how it rotates sometimes, but I'm guessing this part is just up to practice. Going to try part 2 now.

Hey peeps just an update for people still trying to figure out why their round cube has a seam. Even after messing with mirror modifier. Right after you add the rounded cube the menu on the bottom left pops up and she tells you to make the radius 1.00 @3:35. Right above that where is says "Operator Presets" try restoring operator defaults. Once I did that it worked for me!

this is a really nice introduction into 3D reference modeling. I had made a simple sword but that was 2D and then I extruded it to 3D. but now I know how to do 3D as well!

holy sweet lord in the first 6, ***6*** minutes of opening this tutorial you have helped me immensely and i have been trying to find a decent tutorial to even help get me started on learning to model besides spaztically flailing around lol. and yes the model references have are two, side and front and it works REALLY well with that (and a far more complicated model but the principle is sound.) you deserve a full comment and like. (finding good pased tutorials for blender have been a trip and a half)

It's nice that you're already recommending good practice by saying to keep the faces square and making sure that there are no triangles

Nice tutorial! I tried to start blender on my own, learned basics about the edit mode, but didn't really get anywhere. I should try again with this in mind. Thanks, Eve!
