This is an easy way to create blended backgrounds using distress oxides

What brand of brush is it. Is it like a sponge

It is a makeup brush (no idea of the brand) with very soft bristles. As it can be used with stencils as well makes them better. Some stencils are metal with fine parts and if you use foam blending tools on them it will tear the foam and bend the stencils so the soft bristles on the brush is a way better option. Lavinia Stamps also make great blending brushes as well.
