My father just Passed and He loved bluegrass and this Hymn. Best version I have ever heard....We will be singing along with you at his funeral. Thank you for such a beautiful version. God speaks through your instruments and voices..

This is the first Southern Raised song I heard after coming across it on KZfaq. It is so well done with such joy and peace that I have made it the last thing I watch each night before turning in. It's obviously Southern Raised's story as well as my own. Great song and so well done. Made me look further into Southern Raised and I fell in love with their music. Bought two albums and replay KZfaqs of many other songs. You guys are so talented and authentic that it blesses my wife and I every time we play your songs. We pray you can find just the right person to replace Sarah -- she's a hard act to follow. God bless you all!

I think I saw yall are from Branson. I went to college in Springfield. Spent my weekends fishing the dam at taneycomo/table rock when they shut down the flow and eating paradise donuts! Man. I miss those days! Great music! Exactly my style. Amazing. Thank you.

@Southern Raised Great collection of music - originals and covers that has brought Peace and Joy to so many. My Aunty and mom have been to the Bransom Music Festival 4 times already and plan on returning once this Co-Vid situation is done. My dear GrandMa was hoping I could find your version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. I told her not yet but said these good folks get lots of requests so we need to give them some time to work through them. Her reply - I've waited 87 yrs, I can wait a few more. Although I was able to play her Kaylee Rodgers cover from 2016 so she is happy.

Our music leader had this song by Southern Raised playing during our communion at our church in Timaru, New Zealand. So apt and so beautifully anointed for us as we enjoyed fellowship after Covid lockdown restrictions have been lifted. Blessed assurance! So true! Thanks team!

I've watched a coupla videos of the group and I'm impressed with vocal range of the singer/guitarist. He's got at least two octaves and a certain classic music background. This is a hugely underrated band. They do have their sound and it rocks.

That deep bass voice adds so much to the song. A singer who can sing bass is something that the Petersens (that other family band from Branson) doesn't have!

The inspiration behind this beautiful old hymn makes it all the more beautiful. In 1885, Fanny Crosby was visiting with her friend Phoebe Knapp. Phoebe asked Fanny to pray God would give her the words to a tune she had written. As Phoebe played the piano, Fanny got down on her knees and began to pray. When Phoebe had finished, she looked at Fanny and Fanny said, "Play it again." Playing the new tune once more, Fanny prayed the harder. And with the last note, she turned and looked at Fanny. Fanny leaped to her feet, clapped her hands and began to sing the words God had given her, "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine." (Source: "Then Sings My Soul," Robert J. Morgan. Thomas Nelson, 2011. Wonderful! Beautiful! I tried singing this at church when I was like 10 years old. Needless to say I got all choked up and failed. Thankfully the people in the congregation sang the song for me. God bless.
