I’ll sometimes wet my initial layers of oil pastel with Gamsol and it kinda sets it up and you can actually paint over it with more oil pastel

Thank you so much! I feel like I have a much better and more practical understanding of the differences and similarities between oil pastels, oil paints, and oil sticks. I knew technically that there's a mineral fixative in the oil pastels, but I didn't understand how that would affect intermixing and finalizing pieces.

Great video…I learned a lot about oil pastel techniques. Where can I get one of those t-shirts? I take a lot of art classes and most have a problem pronouncing Sennelier…thanks!

For me the fixative dulls the vibrancy and tends to tone down chroma on lighter warmer colours

What type of (oil) (pastel) pencil would you recommend to be used alongside oil pastels?

can you heat the pastel for effect like t them at a low temp very long on a surface like rocks or glass to melt and mold together like glass will it have a like fusing
