Dogs brains are much simpler and have much less cognitive processes, and they have been bred and domesticated by humans for centuries. If we as a species shaped the way dog's work, then don't we have equal capacity for love, loyalty, and affection? There are plenty of mean dogs out there, there are plenty of mean people out there. In most cases, they are mean because of how they were raised. Really, dogs and humans aren't so different. That is why they are man's best friend.

I have a blind dog too. He saved my life. Her name was River. I nearly drowned because of my brother. He shoved me underwater. He laughed and she sensed my horror. He jumped and swam to me. I was uncauntious by that time. She grabbed me by my bathing suit strap. She dragged me to safety.
