LYRICS:
Don’t turn away
Don’t close your eyes
In false pride
Will you protect the light?
Reflect or shine?
That’s your choice
We’re heading straight into damnation
For an unknown god
It needs a rebel heart
It needs a pure soul
We’re the condemned
I will not surrender
Let it be
I will not surrender
Now bring me your sacraments
The dead will not complain about it
Try, it makes no difference
No difference
The bridgeman
He must obey the order
Turns straight into the raging storm
Hatred’s never ending
Save us
Set us free
Sky dancer
Down where the violent shadows breed
Hide in the underworld
Sky dancer
Hide where the violent shadows creep
Drown your pride
Young slave
Obey your master
Master, master, master
It’s all I can teach
Obey your master
Master
Don’t tell me you’re innocent
Your guilt, there is no doubt about it
Crime, there’s no deliverance
Deliverance
Watch out and believe it
Your men, they will be slaughtered
Give up
You better believe it
Your mission’s to
Take us, set it free
Sky dancer
Down where the violent shadows breed
Hide in the underworld
Sky dancer
Hide where the violent shadows creep
No need for a settlement
Your claim, there’s proof
I truly doubt it
Crime deserves a punishment
Your punishment
The bridgeman can always
Cross the border
Your choice to make
It’s one more step
Hear the chasm’s calling
Take us, set it free
Sky dancer
Down where the violent shadows breed
Hide in the underworld
Sky dancer
Hide where the violent shadows creep
In violent shadows
We’re all
condemned
In violent shadows
We're all condemned
In violent shadows
We’re all condemned
In violent shadows

@@jimskywaker4345 Nope, only Violent Shadows is Cosmere. The God Machine album's other songs are about other works. Deliver Us from Evil is about Arthur Miller's play The Crucible. Damnation is Kingkiller Chronicles. Secrets of the Americna Gods is about Neil Gaiman's book American Gods. Life Beyond the Spheres is about the Big Bang. Architects of Doom is Battlestar Galactica. Let It Be No More is about the death of Hansi's mom, and the TV show The Leftovers. Blood of the Elves is a reference to the title of the first Witcher novel. Destiny is inspired by the tale of Hans Christian Anderson's tale of the Ice Maiden.

Love it. If the live version was a rough diamond, this definitely is well polished

I think the changes are really good, the character and aggressiveness of the song is still there, but just a bit more polished without going overboard with the layering.

The intro sounded so Kreator like 😁 Hansi's voice is like a good vine, aging perfectly 👌 the song is really good: fast, agresive, powerful 👍

Perhaps fave track from the album. So many bangers. It's a shame i discovered Blind Guardian a bit late in my life, in 2017 trough my Tolkien obsession.

Such a great chorus, pure distilled Blind Guardian ! Also, interesting descending bass run at 2:05.

I feel like they have needed to release the classic acoustic album unbelievably much, in order to get rid of their urge to produce movie soundtracks, because that’s exactly how they’ve sounded for the past at least 20 years. Since it’s out of their system, now they can focus on being their actual selves and I am amazed how fresh their new material sounds! It’s heavy, straightforward, punchy, with a rewarding payoff on the chorus and my god, Hansi’s voice is unbelievably hot ! And again - it’s heavy ! This song could have easily be made Kreator

I don't quite agree with this, but close. I think going back to a style like the much earlier, thrashier Blind Guardian probably feels fairly fresh and exciting for the band now, particularly following Legacy of the Dark Lands. I've only been listing to Blind Guardian for 22 years, so am a bit of a late comer though.
