Excellent device but why it is so costly, I mean only few could afford it.....my thinking is that this wonderful device should be at a very affordable price so that maximum low vision and blinds can be benefited through it. It is a boon, blessing for them and a great service to humanity.

It's because only a small percentage of the population would need one. It's not like a TV in which you will find in every home. The company won't be able to sell these in bulk so they have to jack the office up to stay in business. Sad but true. There are grants available to assist families in getting them. Contact your state Rehabilitation Services to see if they can assist.

I am totally blind. I have been for 21 years. I am looking in on getting me one. Hopefully that happens it’s a little steep in price but things like this are expensive.

I am blind and some of these technologies are wonderful but the problem is they are so expensive and since Medicare nor Medicaid they will not help pay for these products it is so in accessible to most blind because guess what most blind people do not make that much money often times a lot of them only get supplemental and we all know that’s next to nothing I do however get my disability my full-blown disability but even at that I couldn’t afford one of these by the time I just pay my cost-of-living bills that’s my problem they’re wonderful devices but they are so in accessible to the few who actually need them

OrCam MyEye can be used with any eye condition. It relays visual information audibly. It does not improve eyesight. You cannot use it to drive.

My son is 24 yrs old and has a disability called Van Derr Knapp which is a brain disease he can’t read so this will be awesome for him he been asking if we can get it but it’s expensive so my question is does Medicaid pay for this?
