About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zeeland band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

People write a lot about the 90's singers that passed away like Cobain, Staley, Cornell or Weiland, and rightfully so. However Hoon deserves to be mentioned up there with the others... RIP

@ you missed his point he never said he was as good as The Grunge singers he just got mad and he passed on in the 90s they both are great singers just different styles of music it's all your opinion of what kind of music you like some people would hate our style of music and say that we suck but that's their opinion I personally love Grunge and all of the singers just thought you might want to know he's not saying that he is as good as your favorite singer just that he passed on in the 90s and should be remembered

In '92 I was tending bar late on a Sunday night @ Daddy Warbux in Ybor City, Tampa. Textbook dive bar, nothin' happenin'. "Auto" comes in and asks if I wanna see a band after I close, says his buddy's workin' the door and we can get in for free. I'm in. So we go to the pool 'n' pub, stroll in and the place is EMPTY. It's an old theater with the seats removed and the floor's slanted so all the tables wobble. there's like 5 or 6 people and this band starts playing. They play a whole set without a word because there is no crowd to acknowledge. I'm thinkin,' these guys are pretty good, where's the fans? A few weeks go by and I hear "No Rain" on the radio and the video's a huge hit on Mtv. I instantly recognize the song and surmise that these guys were readying themselves for a tour. Close brush with greatness.

@@gsxrkz With all respect, think you’ll find that although you only know one song, many thousands of people know a lot of their material and have an extensive knowledge of Blind Melon’s back catalogue. Many people may even have watched them perform live, bought their memorabilia and therefore have been slightly upset when he died at such a young age. As such, those same people may have looked up videos of Blind Melon playing on KZfaq and written melancholy, wistful comments about Shannon Hoon. Stay safe, wherever you are. And also, have a listen to some of their stuff; it’s pretty good 👍

This was professionally lit and filmed with a broadcast quality camera on broadcast quality video tape. In other words, a lot of time went into preparing this to look good. With security cameras, they usually record to cheap media because they are constantly recording and it would be (among other things) prohibitively expensive to use high quality equipment for something that sees routine, daily use.

Would take too much memory for high quality videos to be recorded and saved 24/7 a 240p video is easier to stream and store than a 720p but i agree if money and time wasnt an issue security footage should be more clear in some places.

You could play a thousand songs and know which one was Blind Melon's based on his voice.
