Eltnum’s and Akatsuki’s themes have “-Again-“ in their names because they are guest characters in the game and their themes are remixes of their main themes from their respective games.

the canon part in mika's theme is actually because her fists are called "pachelbel" which I personally think is hilarious

I had a friend who got into Undernight just through its ost's, it's a great game that's decently easy to pick up

Undernight is modern day with some characters that come from the past cause they live hella long. Also some character are modern but don't wear modern cloths cause it's their uniform or something. Like the nuns and crusaders.

A lot of these themes are pretty good bops. But my god the Sys celes versions of some of these songs (Hyde's, Linne's and Merkava's especially) are godlike! You gotta give these a listen to when you can!

man its so cool how these songs mange to tell so much about their characters. for example its crazy how you described part of Carmine's theme as being "trapped in a spiral" when trapping the opponent on his offense is his whole thing, and also it sounding like a pokemon battle makes me think of him not being an important big bad on the story and more of a fight-obsessed thug

Im getting the impression that you think daisuke was responsible for the soundtrack for this game. While arc sys published it, the game was actually developed by french bread. And Raito is the composer for Undernight.

Greetings. The UNI2 Mix versions for these OSTs have all come out, I assume. You should check them out. Second halves are something to look out for besides new instrumentation.

"[Gordeau's theme] feels heroic and sinister at the same time!" You're spot on with that analysis, because Gordeau works for the villains, but is by no means an evil guy. He just likes to fight and has a chip on his shoulder, but in some of his victory quotes he tells the defeated opponent why they lost as a sort of 'tough teaching' moment. He's an anti-heroic character for sure, he sort of fills the role of the older, experienced In-Birth who's done this for years (as opposed to the rest of the cast, who are mostly high-school or college age) who will beat the fuck out of you, but then school you on why you lost, XD
