I might end up combining my reaction to episodes 3 and 4 as I'll be getting to episode 3 later than usual, so there's a decent chance that the next Invincible video will just be 3 & 4 together in a couple weeks.

FUN FACT: The Atlantis plotline is very different in the comics. There, Mark actually got chosen to be the next king of Atlantis after Omniman killed the previous one, and the ceremony involved him having to fight the giant monster in the arena and afterward mate with the queen of Atlantis in the same place, hence the title of the episode. Mark of course wasn't fond of the idea, so he made a plan with one of the fishmen people who served the royal family and loved the queen, to make it appear as if Mark got defeated and the other guy did defeat the monster. The plan reveals successful...and then the guy and the queen start having sex in front of everybody as per tradition, while Mark awkwardly leaves.

It's an understandable change. These characters never came back and all they really needed to do was show a weakness that Mark has with sound. It did its job but didn't take up an entire half or full episode.

Shapesmith is literally just a martian. He disguised himself as an astronaut that got stranded on Mars. The astronaut is still on Mars under Sequid control

you missed my favorite subtle joke from DOC Seismic - when Mark calls him Professor "ITS DOC SEISMIC....I never taught" almost sounded disappointed XD

At the end, when we see an alternate dimension, the first hint that we are in another universe is that the Pentagon sign has "Parking in front" on it, instead of "Parking in rear" like in the main universe.

just a thing about the martians again. the shapesmith is just a martian who came to earth in the space ship by copying and replacing one of the astronauts. (we dont know why he chose to do this) this left the actual astronaut on mars still where he became attached to the sequids which needed a humanoid host to control their hive mind (or something like this. martians are immune because they can change shape. and now mars is damaged by these things and they are seemingly escaping mars from what we saw in this episode)

I assumed the astronaut got captured by the sequids and the Shapesmith saw an opportunity to escape by taking his place.

Dont know if you noticed but Cecil was creating a contingency against Mark in case he goes rogue which is smart giving that most alternate Mark's have gone rogue And it looks like we're gonna have an invasion soon

Every episode title going back to S1 is a driect line from the Comics. Mark in the comics is a bit more of a traditional high school nerd akin to Peter Parker at the start, and i think his relationship with Amber hadn't gotten very far or maybe hadn't even started when they did the Atlantis storyline initially. Definitely agree that show Mark has almost definitely done it with Amber at some point, hence why they don't say the title in the episode lol EDIT: After episode 3 lmao nevermind about that last part

I'll be honest. I legit do not remember how Cecil brought back Donald in the comics, the only thing I remember is that he did. Which is why I wasn't surprised to see him in episode 1.

So excited for your reaction to the rest of season 2, (no spoilers btw) judging by what they're doing with the title card I think they're hinting that the season will end on one of the comic's story arcs that can simply be described as "peak fiction" and that is very exciting

Selling the gold is not as simple as it sounds. Because gold is rare, they have to fact check where they got it. If they learned she made it, it’s like counterfeit money. If she creates more whenever than the value of gold decrease.

Eve is just doing whatever she wants, she interfered with a construction work site and told that foreman off when she received a valid complaint. She arrogantly thought she was right because she was more powerful. I think part of the theme of Invincible is wanting to do good with superpowers but having unintended negative consequences because they are so powerful.

@@rootfish2671 I guess, which is why selling the gold would put her family at risk of criminal activity, as in more consequences. So you can’t blame the dad for rejecting it. Maybe he was too harsh, but that doesn’t make him less right.

I mean, it's still a good plan. Some universes are different in every way possible while others are near identical. Surely if he keeps traveling he can find multiple weaknesses which would give him a variety of options to work with. Obviously some of them won't work, but you'd think some would indeed work. I don't see the issue.

Due to Angstrom Levy, I wonder if this series will be able to collab with Marvel, especially due to that one part of the comic. With how they're changing several part from both last season, and also this episode, I feel like the collab might not happen...

@@devinsteele2424 That is expected, same as Tech Jacket. While it is a crossover, I don’t really think it would really be call a collab since it’s from the same comic book publisher.
