Celestia's fear of chickens probably comes from cockatrices. Remember, when she was younger, she used to live in the Castle of the Two Sisters in the Everfree Forest. And as we recently found out, not only do cockatrices live there normally, they migrate there and form a huge flock... every single year. seeing Luna's downtime hobbies and geeky nature makes me realize why she gravitated to Twilight so much when she first started out as Celestia's student. I imagine interacting with Twilight reminded her quite a bit of dealing with Luna back in the day.

Luna's sheltered dorkiness was adorable until I remembered that the entire reason she's so sheltered is that she spent 1,000 years on the moon. With nobody to keep her company but the Nightmare entity. No post offices, theatre, books, or hilarious 80's makeovers. This episode actually gets a little dark in that context... I really hope Luna has a therapist.

It's a good thing Luna has learned to maintain her anger since the way how Celestia just forced Luna to participate in her activities and ignored what Luna wanted to do, was pretty much the same scenario which caused Luna to turn into Nightmare Moon. She just got over shined by her sister in this episode.

Ohhhhhh nelly. Celestia and Luna rockin those sunglasses like the Blues Brothers

"Apparent lack of video games in this world" The "find a stallion for Cheerilee" song in the first Hearts n Hooves Day episode did canonize the fact that coin-op arcade video games DO exist at least. The Adrenaline Junkie thing for Celestia does make SOME sense at least. Being able to fly does not make a free fall attempt SAFE by any means like a Zip-line or Rollercoaster can do, you can't strap yourself in and be safe when you're falling from the sky just by closing your wings.

Comedy gold aside, MLP is meant for children, and some form of a life lesson is in each episode, such as compromising activities, since everyone (siblings/friends) enjoys different things. Luna's everynight life reminds me a dialog from 'Monk': "-What's so important about a window. -Try living without one." Celestia may go on adventures with a certain traveling magician, since" The Great and Powerful Trixie fears no cluck!"

This was the exact same lesson Twilight covered less the half a season ago about a ruler knowing when to ask for help.. Twilight just is an idiot at this point and should not be ruling.

My big problem with this episode was the B plot. They turned Fancy Pants into a JERK. Silverquill's gonna have to revoke his coolest stallion in Canterlot status

Having to write this on my phone. This is by far one of my favorite Eps! And this season is good, and with the finish line in sight... I don't want this show to end, but if it must it's good to be on a high note. But can we just get Zecora now?

It's really interesting watching this episode now. If I watched it when it was released I don't think I'd have appreciated it the way I do now. I've been taking a class at college on hospitality and tourism. One of the big things my professor talked about was that there are two basic types of people, Allocentric and Psychocentric. Allocentric people want adventure, they want a thrill and the adrenalin rush. Psychocentric people just want to relax and take things slow and calmly appreciate the moment. The fact that they specifically highlight that difference between people in this episode is really cool to me now that I can appreciate it a little more.
