Not only was it his robot it was likely his final project and if it goes by Japanese Anime logic her father was likely killed by someone wanting his research or the actual robot if not both but the daughter who likely played with the robot during its programming fase witnessed the whole thing or was in the lab at the time, the robot would have saved her and took off to save them both. Probably blowing up the lab killing the bad guys or some such. The trama of the even is what likely caused the psychic link between the two.

Also kind of like losing a brother, since the robot was also the father's creation and pride and joy. It reminds me of a similarly somber Superman story called "Only Child" in which Superman meets an Iron Giant-like robot created by his father, Jor-El, that helps him fight off an armada that had reprogrammed the robot as a tool for their conquest. In the battle, the robot was severely damaged and sent spiraling down to Earth, "dying" on impact. As Superman knelt over the machine's remains and looked into its empty "eyes" to see his own reflection, Lois Lane asked him if he was all right. He remarked that the armada was defeated and everyone was safe, so she clarified that she was asking how he was. "I was alone before, so I suppose I haven't really lost anything," he said without looking at her, to which she looked away with a sorrowful look on her face. The next day, Clark Kent published a story about two brothers who were separated at birth and reunited in adulthood. After delivering the paper to them in-person, they asked him if he had a brother and he said, "No. I'm an only child," as the comic ended on a panel depicting the robot's remains in his Fortress of Solitude.

@@filthycasual8187 - What are the politics of a fictional character being a different sex or gender in an alternate universe? Is Peter Porker being a pig (or spider-turned-pig) a political statement because he's not human? Or Peni Parker being a Japanese teenage girl? Or Spider-Woman being Gwen Stacy? A person's identity is social, not political, anyway (unless we're talking about their political alignment/ideology), and even then, a simple case of "Rule 63" is hardly a statement on anything. It's just multiversal comic book fun. And what would their motive have even been? "Critical Gender-Swap Theory"? Are you worried this is gonna promote the erasure and replacement of more male octopod mad scientists? What policies would they be advocating for? Forcing evil megacorporations to only appoint women as the head scientists of their inter-universal experimentation departments? There's an alternate universe where Spider-Man has two pairs of arms and one where he shoots people with wrist-mounted guns. There's even one where he eats people like a true human spider. These decisions to "reimagine" the character as something he never was before sure are a little more than suspicious, aren't they? Or maybe you're just looking for reasons to be upset and need to unclench and have a little fun because it's really not that deep.

"We all make choices in life, Miles." "It doesn't feel like I have a choice." "You DON'T!" ... "Your shoes are untied." "I'm aware. It's a choice." Great thematic characterization. In the beginning of the movie Miles feels like he has no control over his life so he exercises freedom in the limited realms he does have control over, even if doing so causes him to get in his own way. He trips over his own laces literally more than once, but continues to prefer to leave them untied just because it's something nobody can really tell him not to do. Trips over his own laces figuratively by trying to flunk out of an elite school whose expectations are a burden to him, just like in the middle of the movie he fumbles as a new Spiderman because the expectations of that role are clearly burdensome to him. The turn comes when his father is speaking to him through the door and says "*Whatever you choose to do with* (your spark), you'll be great." Also significant that he says he loves him but doesn't force him to say it back. He lets go of control of Miles' actions and trusts him to find his own greatness and do the right thing, which is the difference between having expectations of someone and having faith in them.

I'm black and I remember that when Miles was introduced back in 2011, I didn't give a care in the world about him because it looked like a weak attempt to throw a black character into the media. I always hated that when people say they need more diverse characters, they immediately think of a black person. After the movie came out 7 years later, Miles Morales has become my personal favorite of Spider-man; not for his race but how is was so expertly handled in the movie. One of the things that made me love Miles so much when watching Into the Spider Verse was that he is an original character of story. How? because so many black characters that are made, the story line behind the character has to fight through is always the whole fighting against discrimination and prejudice crap; that story line for black characters has been getting old. Miles' story is completely different, original, and can relate to other people. Another thing I like about Miles in his movie, he is a hero who does not try to fight for a girl. A hero doesn't always need to have some girl in his fucking life as a prize in his hero work; no kissing scene whatsoever for Miles as a hero, I swear, if I see the girl getting introduced as the character's crush by watching her walk down the school hallway in slow motion and waving her hair to the side and smiling at others one more time, I will give the producers a black eye. And lastly, Miles' motivation is completely justifiable. Ever since I was 14, I always hate how teenage characters in animated stuff or movies are always rebelling against their superiors or elders and not following orders believing that they can fucking do shit on their own as if they are fucking ready. Just like how my classmates rebel against our teachers. Miles is actually rebelling because he made a promise and wishes to keep it and doesn't want to let the person he made that promise to down, and I freaking admire that! It reminds me when I went behind my parents back to get some meat, crackers, juice, bread, chips, and water in a bag and my brother and I would take the bag to this homeless person who need it. I admire teens who rebel against their elders for a good reason and only when the elder is being a complete shit case. Also, he feels guilt for doing nothing to help so he is trying to make up for it. He is a teenager who is rebelling for good reason. I freaking love that. I had Miles all wrong back in 2011 but thanks to Into the Spider Verse, I have a new found respect for him and he is my personal favorite as Spider-Man. I don't like characters because they are the same color as me, I like a character just as character, how his/her story goes to make me like them and how I feel relatable to them. I have been in Peter Parker's shoes before but I am black. I don't need to relate to someone because of skin color. I relate to characters not because they look like me, I relate to them because they are a human being like me. Spider-Man has been my favorite superhero since 2001 so I say "EXCELSIOR"!

I funny enough had a rant to my girlfriend about certain expectations. The idea of diversity and pandering can align but aren’t the same thing. The idea of diversity is allowing new characters to theoretically be played by any race and it not making a difference. To say Miles Morales is “black Spider-Man” is ignorant. He just stands as another version of Spider-Man and I enjoy that.

Who cares if he is drawn white, Idris is a good actor." now imagine if a white big roided out white guy played Cyborg. Lets say Brock Lesnar. Same response? Nah. Instead it would be the reverse. "Uhh he's black in the comics, this is racist. They're literally genociding black characters out of the comics reeeeeh!!!!" I say this because your "saying Miles is black spiderman is ignorant" is wrong. Sadly more and more youngsters are starting to identify Spiderman as always being Miles, and Peter as "the white guy stealing from black culture because the film clearly says 'Im Miles and im the only Spiderman' at the end."

One thing I noticed is that at 1:40:33, when Gwen says "I've been there", she probably means that she felt "That's not my Peter" when she saw Peter B. Parker, who felt the same with this version of MJ. Kinda touching tbh
@Kyran1996
@Kyran1996 2 жыл бұрын
It's also possible she felt that way when she saw Miles' universe's Peter's death being broadcast on the news like some kind of cruel reminder by the universe (so she was probably relieved to see some versions of him weren't destined to die; it would've been interesting to see her determined to prevent Peter B. Parker from sacrificing himself for the same reason Miles was ("I can't let Spider-Man die [again]" or "I can't let Peter Parker die [again]"). Likewise with Spider-Man Noir, but he kept his mask on the whole time, so it was probably easier to keep those anxieties in check around him (she sees her old friend as Peter, not Spider-Man, after all) and I don't think he would've stayed behind if he didn't have to, since he's kind of a revolutionary figure in his world and would feel he's shirking his uncle's lesson of the people's "responsibility" to redistribute the "power" that's being abused by those in charge (and he's got his own kingpins to fry).

Notice In Miles' Dimension when Pete is transported It's now a Koca-Soda Sign. All brands in Miles dimension have name changes, I'm assuming the same for PDNY.

It definitely deserves all the hype and praise it gets. For me personally this is the single best Spider-Man movie ever. Its well written, funny, intense, has heart and well acted. The highlight is of course the animation. I consider myself a nerd/geek for not just animation but just style choices and the look and vibe of whatever it is. I can't think of a single movie or show that really looks like this. Best way I can describe it is a CG movie done in the style of Claymation.....which is incredibly cool and fascinating. Only thing that comes even close is "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs".
