Blind tennis is played with an adapted ball and rules using short tennis rackets of no more than 56cm. The court used is the serving boxes of a normal tennis court with a slightly lowered net. In singles, the tram-lines are always out but in doubles the tram-lines are only out during the serve. The person serving says "Ready" the receiver says "yes" and the person serving says "Play" and then has five seconds in which to serve the ball. players who's sight category is more than B1, which is totally blind, get two bounces of the ball, B1 category players get three bounces. The sound is not too good on this video and its hard to hear the players saying ready and play, but they are. This was a very successful tournament played at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, London on the 16/17th of October 2010, organised by Metro Blind Sports, with help from the LTA and some very dedicated volunteers, to whom we are eternally grateful!
