More information about the video content bellow:
1. If WA were to be a country in its own right, it would be in the world’s top 10 for size. Western Australia is Australia's largest state, with a total land area of 2,529,875 square kilometres (976,790 sq mi), and the second-largest country subdivision in the world, surpassed only by Russia's Sakha Republic. The state has about 2.6 million inhabitants - around 11% of the national total - of whom the vast majority (92%) live in the south-west corner, 73% of the population living in the Perth area, leaving the remainder of the state sparsely populated.
2. In 1933, Western Australians voted overwhelmingly to secede from the Commonwealth. While 68 percent of people voted for secession, the Commonwealth refused the request and WA remained part of Australia.
3. Perth (WA’s capital) is the most isolated city in the world, with its closest city being Adelaide and that’s over 2,200 km away. Perth is closer to Singapore and Jakarta than it is to Canberra.
4. Madness, mutiny and murder. It might sound like the plot of an implausible Hollywood blockbuster, but the story of the Batavia is frighteningly real. In 1629, the ship struck a reef 40 kilometres off the coast of WA - and that’s where the terrible tale began.
5. Perth’s very own Kings Park is the largest city park in the world. Yes, at 400ha (988 acres) it is larger than Central Park in New York . Here you can wander and take in spectacular views of the Swan River, overlooking Elizabeth Quay, the city skyline and Darling Ranges. There are bush trails, manicured gardens and Australia’s largest display of wildflowers throughout the Botanic Gardens.
6. The Pinnacles is two hours north of Perth in the Nambung National Park. There you will see the ancient desert sculptures, where the desert landscape is transformed with yellow limestone formations up to 5 metres tall rising out of the sand dunes.
7. Western Australia has its fair share of natural resources and a booming mining industry. Located in the remote Kimberley region is Argyle Diamond Mine, the largest diamond producer in the world (by volume) and the only known significant source of pink and red diamonds. The Kimberley coast is also home to Australia’s largest producer of pearls. Two of the world’s largest producers of gold are located in Western Australia. The largest open cut mine until 2016 is the Super Pit at Kalgoorlie gold mine. The oblong pit is 3.5km long and 1.5km wide but a massive 570 metres deep making it visible from space. No wonder Perth is home to the highest per capita of self made millionaires.

Thanks for making a documentary of my state. Even though it's the most isolated place in the world , it is the most amazing and the two often go hand in hand. By the way, it's pronounced the way it's spelled, Argyle not Arjyle. The same way it's Kalgoorlie nit Kaljoorlie. It's good, not jood hey.

Sorry about the mispronouncing. And yeah, I agree, Western Australia seems like an amazing place.

Daniel Wise I suppose you mean secession. You would also be correct in saying that it is the only thing you think about, I doubt you would be capable of thinking about two things at once, and that includes not being able to spell the first thing.🤪😂

Batavia is not IN modern day Jakarta, it was Jakarta. It was a Dutch territory until 1942 when it fell to the Japanese, and was renamed.

Perth is home to 85% of Western Australia's population but Perth's rainfall has dropped 20% since 1985. Now the Bureau of Meteorology predicts that the rainfall to drop by another 30% by the end of the century. Today, 45% of Perth's drinking water comes from two desalination plants. One plant is being upgraded and another one is soon to be constructed. Perth has its traditional dams in the Perth hills. They are kept at a steady 43% full by pumping desalinated water into the dams during the winter when the rain does fall. Another source is the aquifers under the city. Desalinated water is stored there for parks and gardens. The question I am asking is Perth going to be surrounded by a desert sometime in the future and what about the tens of thousands of square kilometres of farms inland from Perth that supply half of Australia's wheat. Some wheat farms could be relocated to the coastal area but as 90% of the wheat is for export to hungry countries, what will they eat?
@innocentbeast1917

Does this gonna affect WA in future? Well the rainwater stored in dams and reservoirs would be enough for Public utilities, but for farming is would be a difficult task
@Quinctili

Yeah nuh. Dendrochronology and soil sampling shows WA had its highest level of rainfall for the last 12,000 years from 1915 to 1975, making the measured and recorded rainfall figures false. It has now gone back to "normal", or as normal as any climate can be. It has changed for 4.5 billion years, it will change for the next two billion years until the Sun expands to include Earth. Parts of Queensland were connected to Alaska, Australia was connected to Antarctica when it was lush and green. It changed. The Sahara Desert was a forest 5,000 years ago, it changed, it's going green again now. Australia is drifting North, we will crash into Vietnam if that stays fairly still. Earth has boiled and frozen innumerable times, the Poles have swapped uncountable times. Sea levels and Ice Ages change all the time, yet Leftstupids believe if they throw a tantrum, stay stupid, pray to Greta and stamp their feet they can prevent ANY change. Interesting.

The coast of australia is the most habitable. The outback is much too hot and there isn't much water. It's only worth living there if you're into mining.

I am surprised that the Coast of WA North of Perth hasn't really been more widely developed. It seems that development North of Glendield, about 4 hrs north of Perth basically ends. It's pretty sparsly populated all the way up after that. Why is that? Seems like there is primo land for beach resorts, just like on the Gold Coast on the other side of the continent?

@@bjdon99 transport. No local ports for goods, no local commercial airstrips, everything has to be trucked in and other than potential tourist based income it's pretty much just not worth it until the suburban 'infill' from Perth finally reaches that high north. Plus down south along the rainbow coast is just. . . Fucking gorgeous. Also water. . . Not much in the way of easily accessed aquifers or coastal rivers so massive amounts of infrastructure would have to be built just to keep up a basic standard of living
