Q&A: Theory on why Oliver went into hiding. Connor is crying when he talks about Oliver abandoning the city. And notice how skilled he is as an archer. Even if he's been fighting for 15 years, he had to have had learned the fundamentals somewhere. So Connor was a teenager when the Uprising happened and he lost his dad, and had plenty of years to grow up with his dad (the actor confirmed this in an interview). And yet Connor, instead of being a gunman like his father, is an archer. Why? So when Diggle had Junior, he probably brought him around to the Cave, and became attached to "Uncle Oliver", and Oliver raised him like his own son/nephew and taught him to shoot a bow. This explains Connor saying he wasn't strong enough to save his dad. He was skilled at the time but clearly did not have what it took to save Diggle. I also believe it's around this same time Oliver loses his arm. Why? When Oliver thought Felicity was in mortal danger, what did he do? He lost his shit and unleashed his fury on the Ghost population in Star City. But what does he do when Diggle dies? He goes into hiding and gives up. Diggle has always been Oliver's rock of the show, and has been with him from the start. TO THIS DAY, Diggle is still the ONLY one who Oliver asked to join the team based on checking him out and digging into him. Everyone else it was either forced upon him or they just naturally joined the team after finding out his identity. For Oliver, losing Diggle broke him, which is probably why his guard was down enough for him to be captured and to lose his arm. It's probably why he went into hiding. He failed this city but more importantly he failed his brother. And it's why he never let Connor know he was alive, because everytime he saw his face, he saw a shadow, a reminder; the face of his best friend.

A few years later. Legends becomes friends... CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP!

You know why this episode was so damn good?! There was no Vandal Savage which means there were no ridiculous plot holes. Seeing old Oliver was great! Probably the best LoT episode yet.

Oliver uses a Hybrid Compound bow, which utilized the recurve and compound aspects of both types, I actually have one that I use to hunt with.
