A serious Hank is a very scary Hank. He is far scarier than any of the other Chechens when he is serious.

I just loved how Hank was so serious at the theater. it was his first really intense dialogue since the beginning of the show. and you're like "wow such a good and serious scene for once" and then he turned on the car and the radio... classic Hank.

Anthony Carrigan is fantastic, between this and Gotham he's one of my favourite actors around right now

Anthony Carrigan owned that scene at the end of the episode when he had his talk with Barry. Not one time in the show where I or anyone was afraid of Hank until that scene. He made Hank scary, with his accent and everything and that takes talent. As great as he was in season 1, in season 2 he's just soo much better.

I love the scene where he explains his first kill like once the people start acting it out he realizes he can’t tell how the story actually ends... also I agree with the tooth point the Barry that crouches down to blame the Bolivians wouldn’t leave the tooth but it’s just for an easy thru line for the audience so they know what’s happening season two is so much better than one I love it

One thing I love about how Anthony Carrigan played the serious Hank scene is he almost looks uncomfortable having to talk to Barry like that. I don't know if it's a mix between being hurt how Barry talked to him, and being genuinely sad he has to be serious, but there's something there that he does not like having to have that conversation with Barry. It's so good.

The interesting thing about Barry's theater scene is it reflects the way most vets can't talk about the reality of what they saw because it's a completely alien experience to their audience. There is an expectation that once your back in civil society that you will be judged by the standards of civil society. Since killing is the biggest taboo in civilian society, it is the hardest thing to relate. Even in situations where killing is justified, there are caveats like it needs to be a fair fight, the other guy was about to kill you, the other guy has bigger or better weapon. Anyone who has ever been deployed knows all those things are BS and it's best to shoot someone by surprise and from the side or back with a bigger or deadlier weapon then them since that maximizes your chances of surviving. The switch between the memory and the stage is great. Everything the actors do is wrong. Their vocabulary (shoot him vs take the shot) their emotion (grief and shock vs pride and amazement) and even their cringe Hollywood stereotypes with the radio static and the recoil comments. Even Gene rolls his eyes and he's pretty deep into Hollywood. They can't even contemplate the possibility that Barry's first kill might have been anything other than a cataclysmic experience, forget about the possibility that it might have been positive.

I love Hank so much. He's the best.

Another great scene on the stage, the acting class really is a place for Barry to reflect and reinvent himself.

I love the love triangle between Hank, Cristobal, and Esther. It was hilarious.

Noho Hank can be hard. But he’d prefer not to because that’s not who he is at heart. But when you make him angry that side of him comes out. The gangster he was raised to be. Ruthless, cold and calculated. He’s awesome 😂
