The under the table scene with Carmy and Syd felt almost illegal to watch because of how intimate it was. It's just so damn good! Also, I love Syd finally regaining her inspiration to cook while making that omelette for Nat. It's so simple yet so delightful. It was exactly what she needed this season :)

Creatives were definitely playing w/ committed relationship tropes and themes to dramatize the investment Carm and Syd give to their baby Bear

More fun details. The chef jacket gift is designed by Thom Browne. Thom Browne is the designer Carmy was referencing when he was talking to Claire about drawing pants. It’s also the designer of Syd’s shirt in the pilot. It makes the moment even more intimate because Carmy recognized Syd’s need without any communication and filled it in a way that would be special for the two of them.

A few callbacks: Carmy telling Marcus “you can throw down” is from the pilot when Marcus said those words to Carmy at the end of the episode. Natalie calling Sydney a genius means a lot from her considering Carmy said Natalie doesn’t consider Carmy a genius even though the culinary world and Sydney thinks he is. Carmy mentions meeting a famous fashion designer in season 2 episode 5 to Claire. That’s likely Thom Browne, the connection Carmy probably has to get Syd’s jacket. His clothes are not cheap. Carmy used the word “tremendous” to describe Tina’s food. Remember that same word was used for Syd’s risotto in season 1 episode 6, which in that context meant was really good, but not perfect. Something to keep in mind for the finale. Fingers crossed the reactions come back right away for season 3.

Written very well, but I love that Carmy doesn’t get it and it’s intentionally a little confusing for the audience: Uncle Jimmy is the dad to all these Berzatto misfits children, and in true dad fashion the lesson he’s trying to convey is delivered in a sports metaphor and a little unclear

@cctomcat321
@cctomcat321 28 күн бұрын
He really doesn't. Ik what you're saying, but I totally get how it slipped his mind. Especially when Carmie is self-sabotaging on a subconscious level. And the stress of his mom coming and what that could mean. Basically an extra stressful variable. It's like the "We accept the love we think we deserve," concept. Carmie needs to know he deserves the chance without him getting in his own way.
@applepie6832
@applepie6832 28 күн бұрын
@@cctomcat321 Carmy was dropping the ball before his mom was brought up. He already said he would call Tony days prior. He yelled at Syd for something else he didn’t realize he had dropped the ball on, the equipment placement.
@cctomcat321
@cctomcat321 28 күн бұрын
@@applepie6832 oh, for sure. Part of me thinks he purposefully said he'd call to set himself up. But there was a chance he would've still actually called, hard to say. Goes back to the self-sabotage part of him getting in his own way. Hard to say exactly where the ball was completely dropped but we could definitely tell it was going to be an issue as soon as he wrestled the responsibility over to himself. I just think his mom was the final nail in whatever part of him that deliberately sets him up to fail. Just another compounding reminder that it's in his blood, or so he thinks. Either way, they do a good job of making things real. Taking on too much for a complex set of reasons and pulling everything together except the one little detail that could possibly ruin everything. But it's almost a safety net because he's much more comfortable messing up, not too unlike Richie in previous episodes. It's basically a battle within himself. The part of him that wants to succeed vs the part that doesn't think he deserves it.
