Violence was my all time favorite from this album when it came out and is the track that sold my on buying the CD. So good.

if you're going to continue on this journey. I recommend going back in time and doing Chesire Cat/Dude ranch first to fully appreciate the growth then go to AVA and +44. Because Neighborhoods, Nine, and the brand new record one more have themes all about their past and take heavily from AVA and +44. If you're considering yourself a fan now I recommend doing this way because one more time can really fall flat if you aren't connected to the band in that way. Obviously you don't have to, But I think it helps a lot to see the full journey of Blink. (also if you do Neighborhoods and enjoy it, do the Dogs eating dogs EP same vibe as Neighborhoods and it's super short)

Since you asked, their influences were Bad Astronaut, Fugazi, and The Cure on this album. They wanted to experiment with a different sound while staying punk, so the resulting album was this. As for what the lady in that interlude is talking about, it's a letter Mark Hoppus' grandmother sent his grandfather during WWII. They got a woman named Joanne to read it for the album and the result is that very eerie build into Stockholm Syndrome.

The girl in the Always video is Australian Singer and T.V Host "Sophie Monk". She was part of group called "Bardot". And now hosts and is part of a lot of Australian reality T.V

This whole album is very experimental. Blink changes their sound and explores a lot of different ideas in this album and they crush it which has made this album a timeless classic!

Blink is the only band that I know of that has three (some say 4) albums that could all be ranked number 1 of their catalog. Of course this has its own problems as well, because it means its REALLY difficult to match the level of quality with future releases. Its hard to look at a title completely objectively when a band has a run of three 10/10 or 9/10 albums. in my opinion this is why Modern Blink gets so much hate from fans now neighborhoods onwards. IMO they're frankly just a great band, and each are fantastic songwriters, even on their first (studio) album Chesire Cat you can already hear how good they are. Chesire is my lowest rated album, at a 7/10. Which is good and above average, but whats above average when compared to perfection?

I literally had a come to god moment listening to this album with good quality headphones and an official copy for the first time after listening to an mp3 disc rip with shit earbuds for years

If I can recommend while it's not the same as this Dogs Eating Dogs was a really good EP they released after Neighborhoods and at the time to me felt like a return to form from the self titled era

You should see the live performance that blink has done in london around that time. Robert was around, dancing right in front of Mark as he performed Dammit - its so adorable you can see how happy Mark is for seeing his icon enjoying his song.

And I believe it's Travis doing the vocals when he whispers "This can't be the end" and "They did this" in Down.

If you buy the album, the cd booklet comes with lyrics and each song has song facts written by either Mark, Tom or Travis, like how the song came to be, how it was written, what was played, how it was recorded, etc. It's very cool!
