Blink Outdoor Accessories To Make It BETTER...

Today, we are going to talk about 2 issues I have with my Blink Outdoor camera and also check out accessories that will help make it better.
So, the Blink outdoor and indoor cameras are the only camera system that were made recently that still disposable batteries to power up the camera. First versions of Arlo and also the Reolink Argus started with disposable CR123A batteries but later models were changed with removable and replaceable ones and they now getting into the built in rechargeable batteries.
Blink still continued with their AA lithium powered cameras which they do advertise to last up to 2 years...in reality though and if the camera monitors an area where there is decent amount of traffic, then you will be lucky to get 1 year out of the batteries.
To ease the worry about battery life, one thing you can do is to hardwire the Blink outdoor camera. There are a lot of vendors at Amazon that sells extended micro USB cables designed to be used outdoors and specifically for Blink cameras.
Another thing that you can look at is solar panels... now these solar panels also needs to be designed for Blink because a regular solar panel will not work. It needs to have a built in rechargeable battery that the panel will charge and in turn this battery will power up the camera.
Lastly, we are going to take a look at Wasserstein Floodlight designed for Blink cameras which aside from providing unlimited power to the Blink outdoor cam, it also will help in recording color footage at night instead of the crappy night vision that the Blink cameras have.

My XT/XT2 system has been in service since 2018; started with 4 cams, now have 10. Most are still on the original batteries. Love 'em.

I had some $15 solar lights (4pk so less than $5 each) already installed near the cameras, and i just want to say they work great, are affordable and no need to wire anything(if you don’t need the power source). They are motion lights, so they turn on when the cameras do. Just a cheap alternative. Make the videos color at night instead on black and white.

Great video. I placed "Mr. Beams" motion activated , battery powered flood lights that come on at dusk and go off at dawn next to the camera. I have them working in sync..Awesome. I wasn't using the lights and I didn't have to spend a penny. The Blink camera has already thwarted a car thief just from the light from it.

Once the motion has stopped it will continue to be ON for 50 seconds.

I have this setup with the Waserstine that comes with the remote with dusk to dawn features. The remote programs the light but it randomly loses its program and I need to get the remote out and program it again. I did return the first unit and get a replacement. The issue is still present. I believe it’s a design flaw. Think I am going to upgrade to a ring

Thanks for this great, very informative video! Very impressive. But it makes me curious - will the upcoming Wyze v3 produce the same result at less cost without needing the Wasserstein Flood and which comes even with a power cord so no need for batteries or a solar panel? Would you consider doing a 1 on 1 comparison video? Your videos are all very detailed yet easy to follow along and learn from.

With the V3 because it has a pretty sensitive sensor, you will not need the 2000 lumen floodlight. The small spotlight that Wyze will eventually sell should be enough to have a clear color recording at night. I will definitely test it out when it comes out.

Nice review, does the wasserstein flood lights stay on as long as there is motion with in its range? I wasn't sure with your comments.

Yes as long as their is motion...after 20 seconds without any further motion, it will turn off.

I've had the Blink XT2 for about 18 months now. Batteries on the side of the house camera are still the original batteries. I've changed the front porch camera batteries three times. Really, I don't why anyone would bother connecting the camera to an A/C outlet having to drill walls etc. Silly. Takes 5 minutes or less to change the batteries.

Do you sync the camera to the Blink module before installing on to the floodlight or after? If before, do you use battery to power up to sync the camera and then install on to the floodlight? Thank you

Unfortunately Wasserstein Floodlights for the Blink camera systems are not available in England or anything like it, although Blink cameras are! Good video though!!

Hey got a question.. is there a good IR flood light for the Blink..? I have a lot of wild life around & don’t want the bright light coming on & scaring thing at night, but I still want the cameras to work, so I’ve been using cheap IR LED flood lights but I’m looking for something better & possible some with & without mains power (maybe solar panel powered)

What sensor does the light use? The floodlight's own sensor? Or the Blink camera's sensor? If the sensor is on the flood light, is it adjustable for distance?

I got a blink mini in my garage and I am having that problem with the face is totally black out, I turn the lights on in the garage but still black out, not sure if there's a fix for that

no it doesnt, the floodlight has its own light sensor so the flood lights only go on when it is dark

Interesting idea. It still blows out when you get really close. This same setup seems like it would work well with the Wyze Cam. It looks like the Wyze Cam adjusted the exposure better in your other videos.

I am also working on attaching a Blink to one of those 360 by 90 degree motion tracking $35 cameras with a spot light. If I get it to work I will post a video for you guys. It will be a Blink Camera that will capture video in almost 360 degree angle coverage. Edit: Wyze PanCam ended up my solution.

I am interested in your Comment, but I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that you connected a Blink to a Wyze PanCam to get 360 results; or are you saying you just replaced the Blink with the Wyze PanCam?

@@utuber1000 I replaced it with a Wyze. Initially, I was planning a Blink upgrade by mounting it to another camera's motion feature. But the Wyze had the feature built into a camera and I found it just as good for my setup as the need to use a battery camera was not required. I installed a Blink for my sister and decided against a motion tracker cause adding a second camera covers the area just as good as a motion tracker.

That is one thing missing on this floodlight. It only works when it detects motion.

Nothing yet. The 1/4 20 thread on the wyze V3 is at the bottom and you will need an adapter mount or Wasserstein will most likely make an adapter whenever the V3 comes out.

If the camera is always on and the lights may come on in the day, if you disarm the cameras from your phone will the light still come on.

I need to know why they can't pickup my wifi signal very well but post router upgrade my phone will pickup my 5G signal from halfway up my street? Yet blink can't get a solid stable connection on the 2G?

I have no issue with my blink and wifi router...my router has 2 bands on it 2.5 and 5...but blink only uses the 2.5...maybe thats the issue your router and blinks connection

No. It is only motion activated and will only work at night.

Your night vision clips seem subjective. Mine are very clear. Looks like you have some accent lights that could be contributing to your washing issues. I don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze if those floods come on every time the Blink NV motion is triggered. But of course this too can be subjective…

My backyard cam ran out of batteries in exactly a week. I had it on ten second clips and my father in law would go outback to smoke twice a night and that was it. Kaput. 2 years my ass. If no one EVER sets them off maybe. Get a wired adapter 100%

I have ring doorbell,3 floodlights,1 spot light and 1 stick up cam my spotlight is battery i have solar panel wirks great my spot light is also batter i was going to get a solar panel but 1 of my floodlight start acting up all video looks red dont know what going on so im thinking on buy this flood light use my stick up cam on it and buy a wire or plug in stick up cam becase like that is less batteries i need to worry about it

Pink or red footage means an issue with the cameras IR cut filter. Try resetting the camera if it helps.
