The video for "Home is Such a Lonely Place" was probably the easiest we’ve ever filmed. All we had to do was be ourselves at home with our family and friends, as we prepared to leave for tour. Consequently, it's also our most personal and honest videos, and one of my favorites.

@Matthew Burton As you know in Adam's Song the lyrics is like a suicidal thoughts of a person and that person is Mark. These thoughs are from late 90's when the band was touring non-stop. But when they eventually return home Travis and Tom always had someone waiting for them (girl friends etc.) but Mark was the one who ended up alone after the tours like the lyrics says "The tours was over and we survived. I couldn't wait till I get home to pass the time in my room alone". But in this song we see Mark has finally has a family thus he no longers spends his time in his room alone. This whole thing is quite life affirming, especially for depressed people like me. I makes me feel like there is still hope for everyone.

@@TheGaliffrey I think you're spot on, they like to say that song isn't about them personally, I think Mark just has difficulty standing behind those darker thoughts, but look at a lot of his lyrics, they're extremely dark, he has his demons, I totally agree with this interpretation of Adam's song.

In a track by track breakdown recorded for NME, bassist Mark Hoppus said: ‘Home Is Such a Lonely Place [Without You]’ I think is one of the high points of the album. It’s a really dark song, but it’s a really soulful, earnest, heartfelt, heartbreaking song. And that song was written, I got to the studio and I was talking with John [Feldmann] and we were kind of commiserating (sound familiar?) on how sad we were going to be when are children grew up and left home and went out and started building their own lives. And you’re happy for them, you’re happy for people to go and find themselves and become themselves, but as a parent you’re sad to have your kid go away (possibly to college?)". And it has one of my favorite lyrics on the record, but one of the darkest, which is “Home is such a lonely place”. Which I think is, I don’t know, I really like that lyric, because when you think about home it’s supposed to safe and comforting and fulfilling, but sometimes it can also be the worst place in the world."

Kind of like Matt in the band, been a long time blink fan. I'm just happy they are still doing what they love. Matt stepped up in Tom's position, that's not easy but I appreciate his hard work.

Matt was much better in his own band alkaline trio, and Tom was much better as Tom in blink-182. I miss new alkaline trio albums.... they are better than this. so if Matt being in blink-182 means the end of alkaline trio, which so far it has. I feel it is only a bad thing.

Radya that is thing... blink182 won't stop now they have matt. matt prior to blink, toured literally non stop and wrote new songs constantly, and released new albums every 2-3 years. just look at blink since they took matt, they released an album with tons of extra songs, constantly touring, and constantly putting on new videos, etc. they won't give matt a long enough break to make a new alkaline trio album anytime soon.. I wouldn't be surprised if they have him under contract not to even. matt is what brought blink back to life. before him, they were dead. Tom was the main song writer for blink. Mark and Travis wouldn't be able to write a good album on their own. Matt is their new "Tom". I'm not saying maybe someday something will happen with alkaline trio, but it won't be anytime soon, and them being how they used to be is gone for good. blink182 should of hired a guitarist who wasn't already in a successful band..... one who sounded more like Tom, it wouldn't of been that hard... if they did, both blink-182 and alkaline trio could exist and both would be better than what they are now.

LostinOC Matt began touring with them when Tom was breaking his promises to get back together. They recognized that they had amazing chemistry together and when it became obvious that Tom wasn't coming back, Matt took his place. I haven't heard much A3, but I feel for you in losing them. That's how I felt when Blink kept breaking up. I don't want Tom to come back and I don't want them to lose Matt.

'And i hold on tight, but not enough to hold you back' is such an insanely simple and yet poignant line that I feel should touch more people when they're listening to this song. Paints the picture of what it means to have true love for someone, whether romantic or platonic.

I love all the blink music videos, but this one is my new favorite because it shows such a personal insight into their lives with the clips from their houses and families. It makes you feel a lot closer to them than performance videos do because those only show them as musicians.

My friend of mine, used to playing this song, and i don't guve attention to it. Now buddy is in another city, started chasing his dream. Then one day I started to listen to this song, just trying to listening to a familiar sounds, and I realized how this song is so related to me, since some of my closest friends, that I used to hangout, are now having their own life. Now I'm aftaid to get hurt again, because everyone that i get so closed to, are leaving me and frogeting me and i hate it. I know it's so selfish, but to be forgotten is really painful, especially by the person who are really meaningful to you
