Just unplug the neg of the battery then reattach after 15 mins . If it does not work , unplug the cluster , then crank the car then plug it in .Do not buy a new cluster

I've done it all and as this yter saying, mine is not working either. GM has a flaw with their electrical circuit that can cause permanent damage to the speed cluster and this is over many other models too. You must buy a new one or nothing can fix it.

Thank you for posting this video. Helped me figure out the problem on an 09 CTS after having the battery disconnected for a couple days. Instead of buying a replacement cluster, unplug the one in the car and then crank the vehicle. Then plug the cluster back in and it should come up working. Dunno what causes this or why it won’t reset itself naturally but this seems to be a fix.

Makes a lot of sense. This car is very sensitive to irregular voltage support. Usually the first sign of a bad alternator is loss of power steering first, then a low voltage warning follows at some point. My last battery change while attempting to use a small jumper battery to maintain memory, still caused my cruise control to stop working until the body control module (BCM) code that set was cleared . This problem is probably the result of a glitch in the BCM that needs to be cleared, or better yet having the BCM scanned for a code as there is usually one present. Your approach probably cleared the issue by allowing a default to set when the system was powered up with the cluster unplugged.

Hi Blake, just to make sure I'm understanding you right - unplug the dash, start the car, plug it in with car running, then you're good to go?

I can promise you that if you owned the car a bit longer, all would permanently go. what you express is the sign of a dying but not yet dead cluster.

Was it just all your white numbers flashing?
@samsen3965 Жыл бұрын
from my experience, nothing is displayed except flashing needles at once per second rate. The car does everything else fine. Only you don't know your speed, gas level, gears, temp, tpms, etc etc. Very disturbing.

Did you have to reprogram the speedometer?

I had to take it to the company to get my original miles put back on it .
